Historia
"When Poppy Wainwright's grandmother dies, she travels from her home in Arkansas to live with her grandmother's older sister, Sookie, in Savannah, Georgia. 'Your Grandma Lainey was a self-righteous nit-wit,' Sookie tells Poppy upon their first meeting, 'and if I had the gumption, I'd drive myself up to Mountain Home and spit on her freshly dug grave.' Sookie is everything Poppy's grandmother was not: atheistic, slovenly, suspicious, prone to vendettas, and completely lacking any verbal filter." (Kirkus Reviews)

Lisa Patton won the hearts of readers with her book Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’easter, which became a sleeper-success. Too Sappy
Revisado: 12-21-20
Liked the first book in this series, more adventure less sappy, predictable romance. This book makes Southern woman appear like vapid, brainless, man crazied idiots. There are some redemptive moments in the book, almost enough to justify the book's existence.

Historia
Hildy Good is a townie. A lifelong resident of a small community on the rocky coast of Boston's North Shore, she knows pretty much everything about everyone. And she's good at lots of things, too. A successful real-estate broker, mother, and grandmother, her days are full. But her nights have become lonely ever since her daughters, convinced their mother was drinking too much, sent her off to rehab. Now she's in recovery—more or less.

What made the experience of listening to The Good House the most enjoyable?
The main character was amazingly funny, and so real. The story catches the reader from the beginning, and stays that way through out the story. I especially enjoyed the reader. She brought the story to life.

Historia
Caren Gray manages Belle Vie, a sprawling antebellum plantation that sits between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, where the past and the present coexist uneasily. The estate's owners have turned the place into an eerie tourist attraction, complete with full-dress re-enactments and carefully restored slave quarters. Outside the gates, a corporation with ambitious plans has been busy snapping up land from struggling families who have been growing sugar cane for generations, and now replacing local employees with illegal laborers. Tensions mount when the body of a female migrant worker is found in a shallow grave on the edge of the property.

Great Listen
Revisado: 04-28-13
If you could sum up The Cutting Season in three words, what would they be?
Authenic, gripping, well performed.
Any additional comments?
The story begins a little slow, but the listener is well rewarded for sticking with the story. One of the best audio books that I have listened to this year.
