Historia
For almost a hundred years, Hadrian Marlowe has served the empire in its war against the Cielcin, a vicious alien race bent on humanity's destruction. Rumors of a new king among the Cielcin have reached the imperial throne. This one is not like the others. It does not raid borderworld territories, preferring precise, strategic attacks on the humans' empire.

Inconsistent narrator
Revisado: 04-21-25
Three book was spectacular, it was done well and it was a perfect installment to this amazing series. The narrator, Samuel Roukin, is fine but inconsistent. He keeps changing how he pronounces some of the characters names and that makes for a confusing experience.

Great Narrator
Revisado: 10-19-24
Because it's YA it was harder for me to get into it at first, but once I got into it I thought the story was great and the narrator was exceptional. She does an amazing job choosing all the different voices for the different characters.

Historia
Samuel and Mary are thriving as privateers on the Winter Seas. As they navigate the complexities of their growing bond, in a world that would see Mary as chattel to be traded, the pair are forging a better way to live, under the sails of Hart. But when their latest prize brings tales of Benedict’s capture by Mereish forces, they must make an impossible choice: to serve their nation or save Samuel’s brother. Thrust into a mission of intrigue and infiltration, they seek to break into the most secure prison on the Mereish Coast.

Fun story
Revisado: 09-02-24
This was an awesome book. I loved this story, it's a lovely continuation in the series. My only issue was that I felt like a lot of the side characters felt like plot devices or props and not like actual people. An example of this would be Charles who was demoted from a huge role in the last book to basically a servant for his friends he was constantly sent away to do some task and we barely saw him. I did love Benedicts character arc and I'm happy about the way the overall story for this book ended. I just wish we had seen more of Charles and the the husband/wife duo from the last book. I look forward to seeing what the next book has in store for us and I truly hope we get to see Benedicts adventures with Charles and the crew.

The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death?

The Narrator was Amazing
Revisado: 08-20-24
This story was my first ever Brandon Sanderson story and it was such a wonderful story very reminiscent of the Princess Bride (which the author says he took a bit of inspiration from). I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The Narrator was soooo amazing adding the appropriate emotions, pauses, tones, etc to his performance. His performance added so much to the story and just made the whole experience that much better.

Couldn't put it down
Revisado: 04-08-24
I loved everything about the story. The only thing is I wish the narrators had all spoken with the author about pronunciations because it was inconsistent for some words and names throughout this book in particular compared to the other two books.

Superb world building
Revisado: 03-26-24
The author has a real talent for world building. I truly felt I was there and I could picture everything that he described. The story itself was great as well, and even though I was able to figure out the culprit halfway through the story I wasn't upset or disappointed at the reveal. It was more of an "I knew it!" Moment for me that added legitimacy and confirmation to my speculation. I do wish that there was more relationship building between the other characters and not just the love interest, but this is definitely a book I would read again.
The narrator did a masterful job at distinguishing characters and I would know who was speaking before it was declared. She added the right emotions to the different parts that needed it which added to the story nicely. I hope to hear more books narrated by her.
