Wonderful Love Story

Georgia Beer’s Sapphic romance, ‘One Walk in Winter’, is an engaging and enjoyable, read, from the moment Olivia and Hayley meet that snowy dated day in the woods to its satisfying happily ever after ending. I loved the good boi Walter as much a Lori Prince’s lovely narration!

You’ll need to set aside some disbelief and just go with some aspects of the story, but believe me, it’s worth it.

My favorite sapphic age gap romance of the year

This was such a fun story with great characters that was a perfect read over the holiday. The writing is wonderful and the narration is brilliant. I really enjoyed the low angst and how so many potential crisis moments were not handled in a stereotypical way but a way I really enjoyed. The narrator’s voice alone kept me sucked in. I highly recommend.

A Captivatingly Glacial Slow Burn

“On the Same Page” by Haley Cass, is a captivating glacially slow burn friends-to-lovers romance. I've loved all of her books, and this one is no exception.

I was swept away by the tender, slow evolution of the relationship between the two main characters over years. Haley Cass masterfully weaves a tale of friendship, longing, and undeniable chemistry that left me utterly invested. I appreciate how she creates authentic connections. Her characters don’t just fall in love; they stumble, doubt, and rediscover themselves along the way.

Lori Prince's narration was perfect for these characters. 100% adored her performance!

Bright Falls goes out with a whimper

Iris Kelly doesn’t date was a cringy and painful slog of a read.

I powered through it, putting it down on many occasions only to pick it back up again because it was Ashley Herring, Blake and I enjoyed the first two books in this series.

The narration was excellent, though Stevie‘s constant whining did wear on my ears. The romance was disappointing, and nearly nonexistent through most the book which was depressing, the moments that we did get with Stevie and Iris did not seem to move the story forward, but we’re repetitive and filled with interruptions that did not make the book better, The constant presence of Stevie‘s ex, who I hated, what is difficult to endure as was the lack of character development between the two main characters who kept repeating the same scenarios and their reactions. The majority of the book was very frustrating and I would never have made it to the sudden 11th hour happy ending had this just been a book I picked up.

You may like it, I did not.

A good, could have been great, sapphic romance

Did I enjoy this book? Yes! Did I adore Olive and Stella as fully realized individuals whom I became deeply invested in? Yes! Did the chemistry between Olive and Stella sizzle? Yes! Did I wish the book was more about them and less about the side stories and drama that made the narrative and interest drag? Also, yes.

Did the book need to be as long as it is? Absolutely not! Were there excessive subplots that distracted from the story and the romance? Yes. Did we need Olive’s deranged, one dimensional, over-the-top ex in the story at all? No, it was the one aspect of the book that I felt was 100% forced and out of place. I cringed every time Lindsay entered the story and didn’t want to read. I wanted more time with Olive and Stella’s storyline.

Olive’s abuse by her horrible / irredeemable family and Stella accepting her misogynistic and highly toxic work environment were depressing bits that were way too much and not necessary to be played up so hard and often. Detracted from the story.

Bottom line: Did I still enjoy the book, despite my issues and skipping some parts? Yes, but it could’ve been so much better if edited properly, IMO.

Please read it and judge for yourself!

Edit: The narration by Chelsea Stephens is awesome!

I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the loving romance and overcoming trauma. Lori Prince, really brought it all to life.

While the content wasn’t as hot or as much of an urgent page-turner as the first two books in the series, it was a nice change of pace.
