very well done opening to a series

the author needs to pay more attention

there are many parts in this book and the next one that feel like the author wrote them then came back and filled in earlier parts, meaning that the main character runs into a problem finds a simple solution then runs into the same problem and somehow forgot the solution he used not even a chapter ago. then there are other things such as an experienced hunter with his pack not having a single piece of first aid supplies on him and yes the author did mention that he has a fully stocked hunting pack. please pull it together there are quite a few times I was yelling at the main character like you would at a bad B rank movie with what happens at times.

It's not as well written as I had hoped, characters were very one dimensional and the author kept forgetting what he said earlier such as nocturnal predators later having bad night vision.
