A difficult concept handled well.
Revisado: 06-05-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. It was thought provoking and interesting. Some books are riveting, this was not a riveting book, and that's ok. I hope you know what I mean, I did want to know what happened next.
What did you like best about this story?
Many things. The story was wrapped up very well. It made me think and I really cared about the characters.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
It was satisfactory in the main with some parts being annoying, thankfully they did not last too long. Often when the narrator tried other voices it was done professionally but the voice chosen often grated on my nerves. Due to the lack of talent of the narrator he should have stuck to the one voice, and just read the story, not tried to dramatize it.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The end to all life.
Any additional comments?
I give full credit to Frederik Pohl for succeeding in writing a story that would I think be very difficult for most authors to tackle. A science fiction story that I think ranks up there with the greats. He is to be congratulated.

Would you try another book from Sara King and/or Allyson Johnson?
No
What could Sara King have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Don't know.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Allyson Johnson?
NA
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Boring waste for my time could not care less about the characters. Childish content, petty interactions between characters. Just hated all of it from the get go.

If you like Japanese Anime stories about teens piloting giant robots who fight then you may like it I guess, maybe.

Eliot Rosewater, a drunk volunteer fireman and president of the fabulously rich Rosewater Foundation, is about to attempt a noble experiment with human nature, with a little help from writer Kilgore Trout. The result is Kurt Vonnegut's funniest satire, an etched-in-acid portrayal of the greed, hypocrisy, and follies of the flesh we are all heir to.

Examination of What Money Means in the USA
Revisado: 10-18-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it is clever and examines the role of money our lives in a very personal, yet detached manner. It is an interesting book. It is not sci-fi fyi sort of a social commentary.
What was one of the most memorable moments of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater?
Hearing about Diana Moon Glampers.
Have you listened to any of Eric Michael Summerer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. He read it most excellently, a joy to hear.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Sort of, I listened to it twice! It sort of gets to you.
Any additional comments?
Unusual book, sort of like Citizen Kane, a made up tale of America, so we can learn about ourselves.

The last battle burned the planet to a charred husk, and civilization is nothing more than a few scattered tribes...like the surviving corps of elite killers who served the old dictatorship....or the sadistic bands of motorcycle hoods, prowling the ruins for victims...or the slavers, mutants and madmen preying on those who hope to rebuild the future. Only a brave handful like Logan and his family, who are the hunted in a world of vicious predators, hope to save the strange and bloody land that is Logan's World.

Carries on from Logan's Run
Revisado: 10-16-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If they liked Logan's Run, yes. Just fun 1968 popcorn fun, but sexist, which is part of when it was written.
What other book might you compare Logan's World to and why?
Not sure, it's not a deep book, but has a generally plausible story, maybe say a star wars book, just some fun.
What does Oliver Wyman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I do feel more involved in the story, maybe I feel as though I am Logan the hero!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes when the baddies were winning, or a tragedy happened to Logan or Jessica. I did enjoy the way this future world held together surprisingly well as a unique construct for the author.

Enjoy.

The TV/Movie sort of...Same but different.
Revisado: 10-16-15
What did you love best about Logan's Run?
I enjoyed the story and seeing how it differed from the movie/tv show.
What did you like best about this story?
Enjoyed a good old 1968 popcorn sci-fi romp in a dystopian future, even though its pretty sexist.
Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?
Logan, the hero!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yep.
Any additional comments?
The book does not have a nuclear war, this is one difference from the tv/movies.
Also people are not locked in one dome but can travel freely all over the world.
Also people know they will die at 21, in the movies/tv show people are tricked into thinking they will be reborn, and some other differences, enjoy!

Historia
Ulysses is regarded by many as the single most important novel of the 20th century. It tells the story of one day in Dublin, June 16th 1904, largely through the eyes of Stephen Dedalus (Joyce's alter ego from Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man) and Leopold Bloom, an advertising salesman. Both begin a normal day, and both set off on a journey around the streets of Dublin, which eventually brings them into contact with one another.

Not really great Si-Fi
Revisado: 08-16-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
er not really, the book had it's moments, I felt it was trying to be great sci-fi, (great space opera), but was only able to achieve it now and then. The author is no Peter F Hamilton.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Create characters I feel are real, and so I care about them. I need wonder, awe amazement. Like Peter F Hamilton! Create new worlds. Hint it takes more than saying "well we are are on the moon and under a dom" etc...Maybe its best viewed as a story about a cop tying to solve a case? Just derivative fiction.
What three words best describe Jay Snyder’s voice?
A bit implausible.
Do you think Anniversary Day needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Its clear the author is trying for one. If book one did not work forget book 2.
Any additional comments?
It could have been a Peter F Hamilton great, but the writing and story was too pedestrian, to uninteresting, etc...

Humanity has colonized the planets - interstellar travel is still beyond our reach, but the solar system has become a dense network of colonies. But there are tensions - the mineral-rich outer planets resent their dependence on Earth and Mars and the political and military clout they wield over the Belt and beyond. Now, when Captain Jim Holden's ice miner stumbles across a derelict, abandoned ship, he uncovers a secret that threatens to throw the entire system into war.

Formulaic and clunky
Revisado: 07-05-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Make it more like Peter F Hamilton. I did not care about the characters and it did not grip me.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
It did have a clever take on advanced bio tech, but not worth slogging through entire book for. And I really grew to hate hearing about Pachinko machines.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jefferson Mays?
And the narrator was horrible, hated listening to his voice. The guy who does the Peter F Hamilton books.
Could you see Leviathan Wakes being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
No, I hope not.
Any additional comments?
It was a novel trying to be a great space opera I guess. The author needs to learn from Peter F Hamilton. The story needs to feel real, to be alive, I guess you need to create an alternative world the reader can get lost in. It needs something truly sc-fi not cobbled together from 21 century earth ideas, but something truly born of the future, from its seeds in the past. I thought the Belters etc were shallow and uninteresting, I found the rivalry between Earth and those living in the Asteroid belts and Mars unconvincing, boring and pointless. I got what the author was getting at, but it was not a fun entertaining story, at least for me, and I have been reading sc-fi fi for 35 years, and love Asimov, Heinlein etc...
It sort of read like those boring military stories.

Historia
The man on the moon was dead. They called him Charlie. He had big eyes, abundant body hair, and fairly long nostrils. His skeletal body was found clad in a bright red spacesuit, hidden in a rocky grave. They didn’t know who he was, how he got there, or what had killed him. All they knew was that his corpse was 50 thousand years old - and that meant this man had somehow lived long before he ever could have existed.

Excellent Considering it's a 1977 Novel.
Revisado: 04-11-15
What made the experience of listening to Inherit the Stars the most enjoyable?
A coherent interesting novel about aliens. I always find novels about strange new technology etc great, if they are handled intelligently, which this was. Of course as it was written in 1976/77 it does have issues with plausibility considering what we know today about aliens or the lack of them etc... So enjoy the story for what it is, a well written thoughtful novel about aliens written in say 1976. I have already bought book 2 :) It has many concepts you may think on for many a year. Enjoy
