Great book…but

Great book for studying the end times in scripture! But hard to follow as an audiobook, because of all of the scripture references. Paperback would be better if you’re wanting to study end times.

Not exactly what I expected from Jerry B. Jenkins. Usually his books are great! I’m having a hard time following the storyline because it jumps back-and-forth every other chapter between two different stories; and to really complicate things, every now and then it throws in a piece of the backstory. I will listen to this book to its conclusion, but very skeptical about the next book to come out in this series.

NOTHING like the movie!!!

If you’re getting this book because you saw the movie, you’ve got to know, it is nothing like the movie! It’s 100 times better!!!! I hate it when film makers take a great story and butcher it! If you liked the movie, you will LOVE the book!

What would have made Chasing the Dime better?

If it hadn't been written at all.

What was most disappointing about Michael Connelly’s story?

It just wasn't believable. Nobody is so stupid that they would do all of the stupid things that Pierce did. Maybe his frontal lobe just never developed. I can't see a 14-year-old doing half of the stuff that he did without thinking of the consequences. If Michael Conley's name was not on this book you would've never convinced me in a million years he wrote it. I've read and listen to 28 of his books, this one was a huge disappointment!

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The narrator was fine, the performance was done as best as it could be considering the storyline.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Other then it's a Michael Conley book, not that I have found. I'm struggling just to get through it. I wanted to quit and return it several times, but keep hoping the next chapter is going to get better and this guy will smarten up. I'm on chapter 11 of 16, so far I don't see that happening.

I guess out of all of the dozens and dozens of Michael Connelly books he can afford to have one epic fail. 😕 But this is all just my opinion.

What could Creston Mapes have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not have it jump around so much. Doesn't seem like the other two books.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Troy Klein?

Either one of the first two books.

Would you listen to The Breakthrough again? Why?

Yes, because I think you can get more out of it the second time because you're not imaging what comes next.

What other book might you compare The Breakthrough to and why?

Pretty much any of the Jeffery Deaver books. Because he makes the characters and places real. You feel like you know them.

Hard to listen to...

What disappointed you about Dark Liaison?

It was hard to follow, jumps around too much from character to character. Maybe it would have been easier if the narriorater was better.

Has Dark Liaison turned you off from other books in this genre?

Maybe, have his next book in my wish list, but not sure I will purchase it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Cameron Beierle’s performances?

No. He is to monotones, sounds like his voice is done through a synthesizer.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Dark Liaison?

I don't know.

I think maybe the book would be better as a made-for-TV movie. Maybe if you had a visual to all of the skipping around it would help keep all the characters straight. I like to climb inside the book with the characters. I just couldn't do that with this, because I didn't know who or where the characters were. I read for entertainment, I don't want to have to work so hard to keep everybody figured out. It just didn't flow for me, but I'm only one person, I'm sure others may enjoy this kind of writing. Not a bad book, but for me it was just hard to follow.

Maybe if the characters don't repeat themselves and each other so much.
