Great sequel to the novel The Handmaid's Tale and the television series as well. A captivating story that keeps you hooked, wondering what the conclusional to all the testimony will take you and worth the journey.

the pain Jackie is in is palpable. imagine reading this after your child's death. it's not just her young daughter's diary, it is a manual to teenage drug use.

This book deeply affected me. I am a cancer survivor so my perspective comes from that place. It is beyond a love story. it is a soul mate story from Ryan's perspective. Although I am sure Ryan left out most of his less than appealing moments, he included enough to get the drift of his struggles. The one thing that was and still is clear, he was madly, deeply, in love with Farrah and she with him. They went through Farrah's cancer much differently than many us who have struggled. They did not have the financial burden and that is evident in the story. Because of that, all focus and thought was on Farrah, and the ability to go anywhere at any price to save her life. He also has an interesting way with words, like each sentence is taken from a romance novel or stage play. Wherever his poetic elegance comes from, he tells the story of his love for Farrah. This is not a story of Farrah's struggle with cancer. Although it is very much a part of the story, it's from the perspective of a man deeply in love with a woman, and his inevitable knowledge that he is losing her and also the incredible struggle of addiction and its affect on the family. The story is deep, filled with happiness and sadness and everything in between. The story was so moving I'll forgive Ryan's awkward pauses throughout. I got the sense that his pauses were at places where he would have naturally ended the sentence but the book contained a few more words in those sentences that he would have to read. I give Ryan credibility in this book based on interviews with Alana Stewart, one of Farrah's best friends. She supported Ryan and believed his love for Farrah and because of that, I do as well. Thank you Ryan for touching my heart.
P.S- note to T.O. You won't get the time back but you still have today. Don't let the end be you talking to cold stone. Fix it now.

it's sad that these types of "rehabs" existed. Although this was well written. it lacks a passion you would think should be. I mean, you are being told that you cant be you. that would piss me off. I dont see that.

it would have been nice to have listened in on therapy sessions a bit more and to have gone deeper into each alter.

I chose this book when I saw Megyn Kelly interview with Dr. Phil. I have been struggling with "what next" since cancer took my body over and caused me to miss essentially two years of working. I was excellent at what I did and flourished in the fast paced environment but there was always something missing. I felt although I got energy from my line of work I was not contributing to the world or giving back. Megyn Kelly's book really made me take a look at it all and realize what I really wanted to do. I hope to make steps in that direction once I am financially and physically able to do it.

Halfway through this book it dawned on me that I was not reading a novel with a made up story and a hero at the end. That no matter what the end, the monsters in this story could still be out there, not caught by a hero or heroine. This is a heartbreaking tale, a type of life still lived by many. I wanted to jump in this book and save the helpless, kick the monsters ass and bring them to justice. Very well written. Would love a part two to this.

This book is great for anyone who reads the bible and gets confused about the stories sometimes. If you are sensitive to satirical comedy about something sacred, skip this book. If you can put your humor hat on as well as realize believe that there can be different views on the bible stories, put your headphones on and enjoy the show!

The Westboro Church (I choose to exclude Baptist from the title because their beliefs are far from any Baptist church I have ever known) is a place one would picture the real Anti-Christ being born into. I can't understand how so many well educated, seemingly worldly people would fall into the spell of this hate organization. How they keep the people they have still escapes me. Even Lauren, as she tells the story seems to be sending a message back letting her family know she never wanted banishment. Her activism now regarding human rights may be her way to her own salvation or may be a punishment to those that turned her their back on her. This books leaves that question open. Regardless, it was well written and I could not stop listening to her story.

I loved the book and am a fan of Tig. Going thru similar life crushing circumstances in a short period of time, I relate. I do wish Tig would have included a bit more about how she and Stephanie grew to love eachother but I do understand some things need to be kept inside ourselves because they are so precious.
