Narrator is great! Story is good
Revisado: 11-23-21
I don't get the bad reviews on the narration. Mary Louise Parker did a great job! Y'all need to back off my girl, now! The story had some weak moments and the ending was mediocre, but I won't ask John Grisham for a refund on this one. I'd like to have coffee with him before he writes his next one though. I have some suggestions.

From the founder and activist behind one of the largest movements of the 20th and 21st centuries, the "me too" movement, Tarana Burke debuts a powerful memoir about her own journey to saying those two simple yet infinitely powerful words - me too - and how she brought empathy back to an entire generation in one of the largest cultural events in American history.

Burke's memoir is life changing
Revisado: 10-04-21
Tarana is raw and vulnerable from beginning to end. I couldn't stop listening. Her insight is powerful and, at times, triggering. She bravely, brazenly and kindly pulls back the curtain on child sexual abuse and its enablers. I found myself crying in one moment, mad as hell in another and throwing a triumphant fist in the air at others. Life changing.

Historia
Only 22, Emma learned to bake at the side of a master, Ezra Kuchen, the village baker since before she was born. Apprenticed to Ezra at 13, Emma watched with shame and anger as her kind mentor was forced to wear the six-pointed yellow star on his clothing. She was likewise powerless to help when they pulled Ezra from his shop at gunpoint, the first of many villagers stolen away and never seen again. In the years that her sleepy coastal village has suffered under the enemy, Emma has silently, stealthily fought back.

this book really renewed my hope and sent me on a journey to find a church home again. I had given up because I became so disillusioned. he is a great narrator and backs up his points with research and theology. this is a must read not just for the lgbtq community, but for those who want to understand more and are struggling.

DO NOT INVEST YOUR TIME IN THIS BOOK
Revisado: 03-15-19
The narration was absolutely beautiful and well done, but this book...was weird. The story line is unrealistic and full of "eww" plot lines. Just freaky. There's a lot of unbelievable narrative that had me complaining out loud. The mystery is easily figured out and you catch on pretty quickly. There's a lot of over-explaining and "confessing." Save yourself the credit and the time and just skip over this one.

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

A must-listen.
Revisado: 07-30-18
The characters were so well developed, rich with individuality and strikingly flawed. They evolved, but it was realistic not pie-in-the-sky. I admit I screamed at my car stereo and cursed the author towards the end because it didn't turn out the way I was rooting for. But the author pulled it off with a realistic story of redemption, healing and purpose.
