Historia
The Eternity Gate is found, and kings and monsters battle over its legends of treasure. But rumors whisper that someone stole the gate's ancient key. Seyo, handmaiden to the princess, keeps three secrets. First, she's gifted in fire, not light, and may as well be cursed. Second, she translates a prophecy warning that the gate does not offer treasure but judgment. Third, Jorai, the scorned prince and Seyo's confidant, entrusts her with the key and disappears.

When I first heard of this book and read the kindle sample on Amazon, I knew I wanted to read it! And when I saw that it was available on Audible and I had a credit to spare - perfect! This story is exciting and the narration is excellent. Perfect for lovers of Christian fantasy! I'm eagerly awaiting book 2!!!

Exciting installment in the Shadows series!
Revisado: 07-09-24
I'm loving this series, and this book was an excellent addition to the series! We get to see more of how all the elements of the last 4 books fit together, and we finally get to see something that I've been waiting for since book 1 (but I won't say what it is!)!!! The narrator is also excellent; all her voices were believable and her narration added to the story rather than taking away from it. I'm really looking forward to the next book!

My Favorite So Far!
Revisado: 01-03-24
I've been listening to all the audiobooks in this series since the first, and I love each one. This one, however, may be my favorite! There is suspense and mystery right from the start, and a powerful message about being spiritually 'dead' when you think you're alive. "Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die!" Oh, and there's spiritual zombie vision. That's fun. ;)
The main story of this book centers around a pastor who doesn't really come into the stories of the previous three books, so you probably could listen to this one on its own and follow the story pretty well, but you'll get so much more out of it if you listen to (or read) the first three books first! Agent Dalton Fowler is back and still trying to figure out what's going on with the Shadows and with Malachi, and Tari is still helping Christians stand strong in their faith.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and chose to review it. All opinions are my own.

Historia
As the Envoy of the Four Kingdoms, Wes has had his purpose decided since birth: sacrifice the treasures of the people to the dragon gods, and they will keep Kaveryth safe. For five years, he’s been forced to watch his kingdom fall into ruin while carrying an unbearable grief of his own. The Elders insist that they must continue to be faithful to the Dracodei, but Wes is beginning to doubt that their protectors are holding up their end of the bargain.

Fun Christian fantasy book
Revisado: 10-30-23
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! First of all, it's Christian fantasy - definitely one of my favorite genres! It has dragons, dwarves, elves, ancient mysteries, and a plot to overthrow the kingdom. Or is it a plot to overthrow the world? Or has the world already been overthrown and no one noticed and now they have to put everything back to right??? Maybe it's all three. And the dragon is a bookworm - but the poor thing can barely fit in a library and she can't turn a page without risking tearing the pages with her claws! I liked her. :)
While I really did enjoy the book, for some reason it didn't quite grab me the way I expected it to. Maybe there was Catholic influence in the plot and I'm just not all that familiar with Catholic theology? Is Wes supposed to be like a priest who allows people to be reconciled with God? Is that why he's so important to the High One's plan? Anyway, something felt a bit odd, but I did still enjoy the story.
Also, the narrator was FANTASTIC. I honestly don't think a better narrator could have been found for this book!

I loved it!
Revisado: 04-28-23
This book was just delightful! You know it's a good audiobook when you start looking for chores you can do that will give you an excuse to keep listening while you work! There's a mystery, likeable characters, an adventure, and a lesson to be learned along the way! I loved getting to see a functional, healthy (if not perfect) family, and teenagers who know that the best thing they can do is trust their parents. Also, the friends who encourage each other to be honest with their parents! But then there were the lies... of course, no story can be very interesting without some form of conflict! I was a bit hesitant with my enthusiasm at first when it kept appearing that there were all sorts of lies coming from the parents... I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I was completely satisfied by the end!
The narration of this book was also fantastic! I felt like the narrator was a perfect match for this story. There were no cheesy, annoying voices, and the tone and inflection only added to the already wonderful story! It felt like I was experiencing the story more than having it "read" to me. I expect that this audiobook will be one I'll listen to over and over again!

Historia
When an armed assailant breaks into her home, geneticist Tari Salah is forced to run from an unknown enemy. The murder of two friends and the bombing of her lab strip her of all her allies. When she’s framed for the crimes and branded a terrorist, she can’t even go to the police for help. Special Agent Dalton Fowler is thrilled when the director of a covert law enforcement agency handpicks him for a sensitive case. Locating and protecting a wrongly accused geneticist should be simple. When he’s shot on his second day, he realizes that nothing about this will be straightforward.

Great book
Revisado: 01-27-23
This was the first book I've "read" from this author, and I'm looking forward to more from her! It's set in the future but not too far in the future. The situation is somewhat terrifying but also very believable. Christians are under definite, but not usually violent, persecution. So when everyone around Tari starts dying, is it because of her scientific work, or because of her vocal faith? I enjoyed the whole book and am looking forward to the rest of the series so I can get some more answers about the "Shadows"!!! The narrator also did an excellent job - I hope she continues for the whole series!

Revisado: 01-27-23
I really enjoyed this book! It is well-written, the characters were believable and engaging, and I enjoyed trying to figure out just what was going on in the band and who was leaving the threats and flowers! There were also a number of times I wanted to tell the main character, "Just quit your band already! This isn't going to do you any good!" The narrator also did an excellent job with this book! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Christian suspense!

Perfect end to the trilogy
Revisado: 05-11-22
This was an enjoyable end to the Krillonian Chronicles! We get to see even more growth in the characters, especially Steene, and meet some new characters that we expect to hate through the whole book, but end up loving. 😊 My heart went out to Bensin, who was finally in a place of freedom, but unable to provide for his little sister or himself. Of course, sometimes I wanted to tell him that he was being an idiot, but he can’t really be blamed for that. And he learned!
Steene also struggled to cope with a new life as a slave, but he also learned to handle it well and make a difference where he was. He was faced with such an impossible choice at the end – but he chose and everything came together so beautifully!
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did an AMAZING job! He really brought the characters to life and made them sound so believable! My one hesitation with the book is that there are quite a lot of instances of made up swear words, and the narrator did a really good job with them, so they did end up sounding really bad. I wasn’t comfortable having my kids in the room while I listened because of that.

More violent than the first, but still great
Revisado: 04-30-22
I very much enjoyed listening to this book and finding out what happens to Bensin and Ellie! This book takes place 4 years after the first book, so they’ve both grown up quite a bit since then. Life seems to be going fairly well, but of course things can’t keep going that way! Through tragedy and betrayal, their lives are turned upside down. It was hard for me to see Bensin give in to bitterness and let it control him, but the way he turned it around in the end was so beautiful! It was also great to see Ellie’s and especially Steene’s character growth. About half of this book takes place in a gladiator arena or training center, and it is more violent than the first book, so I generally made sure to listen when my young children weren’t in the room (unless I was sure the scene wasn’t going to be bloody), but I do believe it would be appropriate for teens. I look forward to reading the next book!

I loved listening to this Cinderella story! It had just the right balance of familiar story and original twist. The narrator also did a wonderful job with both the story and the characters. I just wish it had been longer! Ah well, I'll just have to listen to it again sometime... ;)
