Got through 4 chapters & quit! Loved the movie so I thought I'd try the book. The book starts where the movie ends. Maybe watching the movie several times throughout my life than trying the audio performance was the mistake 🤔 I'll watch the movie every time Turner Classic Movie channel shows it. Come on Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean, & Rock Hudson a true Hollywood classic flim! And even though I know the story I just couldn't get how it started where the movie ended, four chapters very boring returned the book..

A 50th ANNIVERSARY EDITION -VALLEY OF THE DOLLS by Jacqueline Suzanne. What a great time to re‐read a favorite classic. And even an audio performance from Audible,even better! Instead of re‐reading a favorite classic you get a choice to hear it on Audible. I chose Audible for something different. Well no disrespect to Laverne Cox, she's great! But I just couldn't finish the book. I love this book and enjoy the story but couldn't get into the performance. I lasted over an hour and really tried to go on, It just didn't click for me. I know Laverne Cox was the performer/reader and didn't think twice about picking this title. Just not a good match for me.......

Joan Crawford has been one of my favorite Movie stars since I was a kid. Read all kinds of the book reviews when Mommie Dearest first came out. Had a copy of the book but never read it. I was afraid it would change the Movie Star image I had of Joan Crawford. Now 40 years later I heard the book/story on Audible for the first time. I feel very deeply for Christina Crawford & her brother! Although Joan Crawford was a horrible mother, she was a glamorous and great Movie Star! GREAT BOOK! God bless Christina Crawford!!!
