Historia
The Unfolded World is a bitter and unfriendly place for Daniel Carter and Emily Lovecraft. In this world the Cold War never happened because the Soviet Union ceased to exist in 1941. In this world the Nazi Großdeutschland is the premier superpower and is not merely tolerated but indulged because, in this world, the Holocaust happened behind the ruins of the Iron Curtain and consumed only Bolsheviks, Communists, and others the West was glad to see gone. In this world there are monsters, and not all of them are human.

The only thing I didn't like was NO BOOK 3 YET!
Revisado: 03-12-22
I really loved the dynamic of the main characters. They do great together and I found them pretty entertaining. I laughed several times throughout the story, especially at Lovecraft's dialogue! The world of the Fold was really interesting since WWII saw Germany as the victor in Europe. There was such a great scenario described with intricacies that were unexpected but made sense nonetheless.
One thing I noticed was that Howard is not too familiar with firearms and military grade weapons. This probably only stuck out to me since Im a retired Soldier. The mistakes probably wouldn't matter to the average reader. I got over it quickly enough.
Ari did an excellent job and slid convincingly from character to character, maintaining convincing personalities for each. His accents were great but his British accents muddled a little and threatened to morph into Australian. He is still super top shelf!
This series is a load of fun and I will camp out in the author's front yard awaiting the next installment!

2019. The year certainly made its mark on the world. It also made for a bounty of good horror stories of the extreme kind, the best of which the tales herein serve to illustrate. 2019 was the year Year's Best Hardcore Horror went global. Not by design but because the stories inside just happened to have been written by authors hailing from various parts of the globe. From Australia by way of South Africa, to Italy, Scotland, Norway, Taiwan, North America and India - the common denominator being that their tales come from darkest regions of imagination.

The volumes are getting weaker and weaker.
Revisado: 05-14-21
I loved the first 2 or 3. For my taste in horror and I realize this is my tastes only, they just aren't too horrific. I guess Im in lover with old school boogeymen and murderous psychosis. So much of this volume borders on surrealism and for me departs from horror. As far as "hardcore" I didn't find any in this tome.
Please don't get me wrong there are some talented writers featured it just wasn't that satisfying for my tastes.

Just couldn’t do it!
Revisado: 10-01-20
I loved the movies and WPB’s original Exorcist novel. I made it though 2hrs and 27 min before I exchanged the book. Everything just drug soooo much! There was so much diatribe and rumination! It was crazy! I expected drama and a tense Story line. What I found was endless philosophy and frustrating lecture! I really expected more of page turner!

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

JW does a crazy job as the narrator, which is worth the cost of admission! The story was unexpected and clutching. I think the combination of a wild, scary, freaky story combined with John's telling was too cool to ever pass up! It was intriguing and fun and friggin' chilling!

Revisado: 03-14-19
I am halfway through the second book. I don't know if I can slog on. It just seems like its the same scene over and over and over. I like the premise and the narration is fine it just feels like there is no real development or build to the plot line. "HEY LETS DO SOME STUFF...OH POO, SKULLS...1 OR 2 GOOD GUYS DIE BUT WE MADE IT OUT ALIVE...HEY LETS DO SOME STUFF...OH POO".

HORRIBLE NARRATION!!!!!
Revisado: 07-24-18
Connolly can do no wrong in my book! Unless he lets Hayward Morse narrate another of his books! I couldn't concentrate on the storyline as much since I was trying to wade through the wide range of "Simpson-esque", cartoon-like character voices assigned to the the story's characters. Several of the characters had accents that made no sense whatsoever. Morse's general narration voice was good but when he voiced an individual it was aggravating as hell, like he was struggling to win a middle-school talent show, doing unrecognizable imitations and impersonations. Was it just me or was Sharon Macy portrayed as an over exaggerated Katharine Hepburn from "Philadelphia Story"?
As far as the story... LONG LIVE JOHN CONNOLLY!!!!!

Historia
In the fall of 1993, the quiet suburb of Harting Farms is shocked when children begin to vanish, and one is found dead near December Park - a great, sweeping expanse that is sunken below the streets and surrounded on three sides by vast woodlands, a place children believe is haunted. Newspapers call the abductor the Piper because he has come to lead children away, while kids whisper darker names for him in the school halls. Angelo Mazzone and his friends discover a link to the dead girl and take up the search for the killer.

Yeah this was pretty much everything!
Revisado: 03-23-18
Would you consider the audio edition of December Park to be better than the print version?
Non-Applicable
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved all the kids. They were great. They were nerdy but self assured and awesome! The clique was funny, clever and great in that loving-crap giving, harassing way that marked my childhood as well as my 21 years in the military.
Which scene was your favorite?
Hard to say. At the moment I cant specify but I know I laughed out loud several times. I got pretty choked up at the end.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yup, if I could've I would've.
Any additional comments?
This was a VERY well done story. I love horror and I really enjoy coming of age stories. I'm 55 but books like this strike a strong chord. This book made me remember so much! It was also great because I'm from the vicinity on the Chesapeake where this story took place.
Mr. Malfi: I wouldn't mind (understatement) if you wrote a few more stories with the same crew as the central cast of characters!!!!!

Glad it was short, it lessened the dissapointment
Revisado: 09-17-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
A pre-teen or a Grandma who doesn't like spooky, scary excitement.
What could Michael McBride have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Developed the story better, and given it a memorable ending that didn't seem rushed, empty and contrived.
Which scene was your favorite?
Not really any of them.
Any additional comments?
I know this guy can deliver the goods! I really like a lot of his other work but DAMN this story just left me saying "okay... this is horror because why?"
I'll continue to read McBride's work because hey we all have a bad day here and there.

Revisado: 03-27-15
If you could sum up Reanimators in three words, what would they be?
Creepy good times!
Which character – as performed by Oliver Wyman – was your favorite?
If you are an avid Monster Hunters International fan (as I am) you'll recognize Wyman's voice. I had to laugh whenever he vocalized some of the "mis-born" seven foot tall 15 year-olds since it was the same voice used for Agent Franks.
Don't get me wrong I am a HUGE Wyman fan and he is one of the best voice artists in the industry! This adaptation is no exception! Great job!
Any additional comments?
If you like Lovecraft, you'll love this! This book is crazy fun and I enjoyed Rawlik's re-telling / furtherment of the mythos universe. There was very few actual cuttle-fish-face sightings and just a tad of referencing of the elder ones but everything else is off the hook!

For years, the Jackson family has vacationed at Rowena Wandigaux Lee's old Victorian house on Gull Island, a place of superstition and legend off the southern coast of the U.S. One particular summer, young Beau follows his cousin Sumter into a hidden shack in the woods - and christens this new clubhouse "Neverland." The rundown shack in the woods is the key to an age-old mystery, a place forbidden to all. Revisado: 02-22-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you are a horror hound like me: DEFINITELY.
What other book might you compare Neverland to and why?
N/A
Have you listened to any of David Stifel’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Sorry haven't heard any others.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I don't see myself listening to anything in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
At first I was like "yadda, yadda, yadda". The story began slowly and the accent took me a bit to get used to. But suddenly without warning this story just got freaky as shit. I just didn't expect much then it just got mega dark and mega weird.
I was digging it!
