Historia
It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

The absolute best audio book I’ve ever listened to
Revisado: 10-22-24
This didn’t feel like a book, it felt like a full on movie production. The voice acting was incredible. The audio engineering and sound effects were AWESOME. The Muse song cameo was brilliant. I never read the book before so this was my first time but I must say it is now in my top 3 books of all time. It is a painful and disturbing story but very eye opening and thought provoking.

Fresh, classic, uplifting
Revisado: 06-14-24
A story filled with goodness and relatable characters. A breath of fresh air to find a novel well written and captivating, yet morally clean and uplifting. Although what I considered to be the climax came much later in the book than I anticipated, Arthur kept me intrigued and engaged throughout. Full of surprising elements, Arthur was able to give a fresh spin on a classic outline (young people discover a portal to another world of kings and queens, good vs evil). Though the ending was not what I expected Arthur was able to weave together a very satisfying conclusion, with enough left open, that if she wanted, she could add more and create a series. Overall a surprising, captivating, and worthwhile read. I highly recommend!

Finally got to see what all the fuss was about. LOVED it!
Revisado: 07-18-22
This book is chock-full of incredibly practical strategies on how to level up your brain power and potential. I loved the Audible version that included the discussions at the end of each chapter. Definitely going to re-listen and go through all of the actions and apply it. HIGHLY recommend for anyone wanting to level up their life and influence

I’m a huge bin party fan and so I knew I was going to like this one… But my goodness. Especially potent message for the driven, entrepreneurial, and higher achievers. Few books have totally transformed my perspective and giving me a paradigm shift quite as much as this book has. Highly highly recommend reading or listening to for everyone

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Just what my soul was craving...
Revisado: 11-19-20
There’s something about the structure of the book, the pearls of wisdom, and the charm of the narration by McConaughey himself that just wrap you up and keep you gripping your mental seat and craving downtime so you can listen to the next chapter.
Matthew McConaughey is easily the most interesting, wise, and likable person in Hollywood in my opinion. I have NEVER cared to delisted to a biography (that description doesn’t really do this book justice) but I have already started it over...this time with a pen in hand to capture all the nuggets of wisdom and soul stirring bumper stickers, stories, and advice.

Good book, misleading title.
Revisado: 11-18-20
If you are a helicopter parent this is a helpful book but a great deal of the information is for parents who are willing to do whatever (manufacturing a life that looks perfect on a resume) it takes to get there kid into the top universities and thereafter medical and law professions in the country. If that doesn’t sound like you there are other books that are better suited to helping you learn how to raise fulfilled, capable, independent children. Narrator performance is enjoyable. Easy to listen to. Felt repetitive by the end but I am not the target audience.

Very practical
Revisado: 01-22-18
A lot of self-help books seem to be more Siri then substance, but this one was the opposite! I loved all the practical and very applicable ideas for being more productive and getting more stuff done. Very well written, and very well performed. I think this might be a better read as a physical book rather than an audio book so that you could write down all of the experiments and projects to apply the more easily. Overall very good!
