Historia
When 15-year-old Oscar Drai suddenly vanishes from his boarding school in Barcelona, no one knows his whereabouts for seven days and seven nights. His story begins when he meets the strange Marina while he's exploring an old quarter of the city. She leads Oscar to a cemetery, where they watch a macabre ritual that occurs on the last Sunday of each month. At exactly 10 o'clock in the morning, a woman shrouded in a black velvet cloak descends from her carriage to place a single rose on an unmarked grave.

but just when the story reaches its pinacle it just drops off at the end. disappointing after reading The Shadow of the Wind but you can see the elements that Zafon expirements with to build up his Cemetery of Forgotten Books series.

Historia
Once again, internationally acclaimed, New York Times best-selling author Carlos Ruiz Zafón creates a rich, labyrinthine tale of love, literature, passion, and revenge, set in a dark, gothic Barcelona, in which the heroes of The Shadow of the Wind and The Angel's Game must contend with a nemesis that threatens to destroy them.

Fantastic story, terrible narration
Revisado: 08-14-20
Peter Kenny does a disservice with his misplaced inflections (beginning every sentence with a self-effacing rise in tone, even amateur voice actors know not to start off a sentence like that) & mispronunciations ('Bea' is Bay-ah not Bee).

Historia
In an abandoned mansion at the heart of Barcelona, a young man, David Martin, makes his living by writing sensationalist novels under a pseudonym. The survivor of a troubled childhood, he has taken refuge in the world of books and spends his nights spinning baroque tales about the city's underworld. But perhaps his dark imaginings are not as strange as they seem, for in a locked room deep within the house lie photographs and letters hinting at the mysterious death of the previous owner.

Incredible narration and a fantastic story
Revisado: 08-14-20
The story is a wonderful follow up to The Shadow of the Wind, with plenty more questions than are answered but it's all a part of the narrative.
