truthfulness of story

fast reading. much of the story was about how father neglected first son to promote 2nd son. although sad author nevertheless used it as a reason to explain why Fred Jr succumbed to alcohol addiction and not succeed as a pilot which detracted from overall genuineness of family history. anecdotes about Donald confirmed his narcissistic, impulsive, reactionary , learing impaired and racist behavior and personality. if the prior administrations were not so liberal and left winged, a person like Donald would never be in the white house. unfortunately for America that a cheat and bully now is leaving an uncertain and questionable legacy in us history.

sins of her mother

confusing life for the author as the whole chaos centered around a mother who did not know her role in a new world. it was hard to listen to at times as there was too much blame on how "racist" NH was to the immigrants only to have the mother come back to a place that gave her a consistent role which she sucked at. in the end it was not racism that failed them but the unrealistic expectations of the women that kept having children and ill prepared to provide for the girls who are to blame. overall not an inspiring story of an immigrant mother who lied and played up emotions to have a roof over her head.

so much identity tied to music

listening to authors recounting college just made me appreciate my decision not to attend Berkeley in the 80s and 90s and even now. it's a confusing period in a volatile location. the tragedy reads like an intellectual pursuit instead of a memoir.

lovely to hear the voices of his wife and son. got to know the man behind the biz and inventions. truly incredible his journey. I went out and got a dyson vaccum after listening to his story.
