Greany's books are entertaining, but he is obsessed with ordinance vs. military strategy. Teaming up with a real soldier made the book hard to put down.

Worst Grey Man book ever

I adored all the other books in the Grey Man series, and this happened.

It's one dimensional and weak with a telegraphed story line. No suspense or taut plot.

It's so boring that I can put the book on at night to go to sleep and I can randomly select any chapter I want and still catch something new. It's that boring. I've done that for the last three weeks and I'm pretty sure I have another week's worth of listening at bedtime.

It's a great soporific.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend that a friend read the paper book or Kindle because of the narration.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Scott Brick?

I miss George Guidal terribly. He could do accents so perfectly and even differentiate between male and female characters.

Brick has no finesse. He does not voice the characters so they are easily differentiated. I had no idea what character was speaking. His delivery is monotone at least and overwrought at best. His style is best for romantic novels, not action-adventure. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in this listening experience. The total lack of nuance is appalling from a professional voice guy.

When I saw that Scott Brick was the narrator, I almost did not order the book, based on his terrible narrations on other books. Because I adore Mitch Rapp, I took a chance. I lost.
I will be asking for a refund.

If you EVER pick Scott Brick to narrate another Mitch Rapp novel, I will not get it at Audible.

Less impressive than previous Luke Stone books

Would you be willing to try another book from Jack Mars? Why or why not?

I have read all the Luke Stone books by Jack Mars, and am willing to try another one of his books.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator needs to learn how to pronounce "Nuclear". It is NOT New-que-ler. Very distracting from the story.

Dick Hill is one of the worst narrators I have listened to in a long while. Overwrought , pauses when he shouldn't and distracts from the story. He cannot change the voices of the characters. I will not buy a book that he narrates. On the plus side, I fall right back to sleep. I have queued up Chapter 18 twelve times.

Would you try another book from Marc Cameron and/or Luke Daniels?

Sure, I would try a book by Cameron, but just lukewarm on Daniels.

If you’ve listened to books by Marc Cameron before, how does this one compare?

Not as well. The characters in this story are one dimensional and uninteresting. Zamora and Lourdes are psychotic sociopaths with no character. Cameron needs to try harder to find a better antagonist. Then again, it could have been the voicing by Luke Daniels. It was shrill for the most part. It just didn't work well for me .

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This a fairly simplistic plot and easy to see where it was going. I was mildly interested until religion became a focal point for the characters. I stopped listening.

Would you ever listen to anything by Irene Hannon again?

Probably not.

Where does The Burning Room rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is an engaging Bosch book. The plot is quite interesting and intricate. I've always enjoyed the Bosch series since Book #1. As far as how it rate amongst all the plethora of books I've listened to, I would rate it fairly highly on based on the story.

How could the performance have been better?

Titus Welliver may be good AS Harry Bosch on the screen, but uni-faceted as a reader. His delivery is nothing more than a monotone and the voicing is basically non-existent. I miss Len Carriou as the original voice of the Bosch series. I will not order any more of the Bosch books with Titus as the narrator. On the plus side, I fall right back to sleep when I listened to this in bed,

No. I need to listen this in small segments.
