Micah, Jess, and the ever-loyal Golden Retriever, Grover, seek refuge in the snowy seclusion of a New Hampshire farm, along with their new Kynolari friends. As winter's grip tightens, so does the Draun's hold on Earth. The signal sent by the Visionary has awakened the Draun DNA inside two hundred and fifty million humans, the number increasing every day. JR has an imagination most of us envy, and makes others shiver by his bizarre plots and characters.
Love this narrator as well. His cycle of voices is most impressive!

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Yawn
Revisado: 12-13-24
I made it through, and that's saying a lot. The story lacks any kind of action, filled with accusations, suspicions, and boring flashbacks. The twist wasn't all that shocking, even somewhat expected if you pay attention (which, somehow I did). I'm unsure of the popularity of this one. Though I will likely try another one of his books with higher hopes of a more riveting story.

Historia
One last laugh for the summer as it winds down. One last prank just to scare a friend. Bringing a mannequin into a theater is just some harmless fun, right? Until it wakes up. Until is starts killing. Luckily, Sawyer has a plan. He'll be a hero. He'll save everyone to the best of his ability. He'll kill as many people as he needs to so he can save the day. That's the thing about heroes - sometimes you have to become a monster first.

Another bizarre walk through the J. Robinson park...with your dog...and many more! Action, hilarity, and a twisted mind hump into the realm a light year past the Twilight Zone. Enough said.
The narrator couldn't have been picked better! His many character voices to capture each human and dog was superbly done, which added a terrific element of humor to the story. Bravo, Mate!

Not spectacular, but an okay listen.
Revisado: 06-15-24
I'm not sure about the point, or lack thereof, of some of the stories. They seemed to have no real plot or structure. This is certainly not a horror disaster anthology. Almost all the stories lacked horror, and the disaster was only apparent in several stories.

Historia
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

Not the short story collection I'd hoped for.
Revisado: 06-07-24
Another SK disappointment. Don't expect Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Skeleton Crew, or The Night Shift. Not even Everything's Eventual. Don’t believe the title. There’s nothing really dark about it.
The only plus is Will Patton. I love his voice, tempo, and all he offers to each story. He is the only reason I made it through this long book of stories that goes on way longer than each story should.
