Not scary at all.

Not badly written, just not especially well written either. I found this to be colorless shade of Stephen King's otherworldly novels. Crank up the speed to 2x and at least the boredom didn't last too long. I didn't have any investment in whatever happened to the characters. You know a book is bad when you don't even care if the dog dies.

Dull. Plodding. Uninteresting and unengaging.

I'm 5 hours in and having a really hard time wanting to continue. I don't care about any of the characters, their "world" or their future at the hands of the something something.
I was very glad to hear that I could return the title for a full refund, which I did. Now if only I could get those 5 hours back.

Long winded and pedantic. With about 8 hours to go I realized I hoped the protagonist would die and that I cared not one whit for any character, which is to me a statement on Simmons’ own. Last time I spend money on him.
