Historia
A timely investigation of the causes of technological and scientific stagnation, and a radical blueprint for accelerating innovation. From the Moon landing to the dawning of the atomic age, the decades prior to the 1970s were characterized by the routine invention of transformative technologies at breakneck speed. By comparison, ours is an age of stagnation. Median wage growth has slowed, inequality and income concentration are on the rise, and scientific research has become increasingly expensive and incremental.

Historia
Every SaaS company on earth is careening towards its next revenue plateau. It’s called a Growth Ceiling—a moment in time where growth stops, and you’re losing just as many customers as you’re bringing in. It’s not an opinion—it’s just how recurring revenue businesses work.

Seriously? 2 hours in to the Audio version and I have 10 minutes of useful information and an 1:50 minutes of this guy telling me how wonderful he is. A little marketing advice.... People want great content far more than narcisstic rants, and too many teasers piss people off. Cut the first 2 hours of this book down and get to it. Based on this book you would not get through a second interview at our company, because we want action not talk about action.

Historia
Start at the End offers a new framework for design, grounded in behavioral science. Technology executive and behavioral scientist Matt Wallaert argues that the purpose of everything is behavior change. By starting with outcomes instead of processes, the most effective companies understand what people want to do and why they aren't already doing it, then build products and services to bridge the gap. Wallaert underscores with clarity and humor how this approach can improve the way we work and live.

Almost a Good Book.
Revisado: 07-29-21
Almost a good book, unfortunately this academic thinks any relationship he can think of is evidence of correlation. If your going to knock Uber for keeping driver's on the road, a feature that shows them where the most costumers are is a poor example of an incentive, considering that feature was obviously built to aid in directing traffic. Facebook intended to give individuals the content they wanted, the fact that they chose to engage with negative content is like blaming a knife for being used for murder rather the culinary arts. And suggesting that anyone who doesn't whole heartedly act to end sexism in their business is evidence of a "f'ing niave" consultant who doesn't understand that small businesses are often so strapped for opportunities to hire, that waiting for the right woman when dozens of male applicants are pouring in is just not feasable. For a man who claims to be about the data, this academic either needs a confirmation bias check, or needs to go back to an intro to stastics and get a refresher on relationships. So many of us want to help, but thinking that all of us can, should, or should sacrifice the business for some ideal undermines the author's bigger message.

Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

so close
Revisado: 05-22-20
It is unfortunate that the author cannot stick to his own thesis when given a chance to take jabs at the left. Falling for the seductive use of tools of the rage culture he claims to scorn. Including using a definition of progressive that is extreme and outdated, labeling and critiquing the left as if it is entirely represented by the "hypersensitive leftist movement" (Evidently missing that rage culture leans Trump)... there are also logical flaws from calling the commandments "undeniable truths", implying the reduction in church attendance is the cause or correlated with the increase in depression in society, slipping in that the conjecture that the electoral college hould be abolished is part of a contrarian movement to oppose everything (as if a represantitive government may not be at the heart of that issue), but needless to say this is a disappointing book... and it is disappointing because the premise is great, and then ruined with horrifically biased examples. This could have been a bipartisan book with a great message.

How could anyone learn this way?
Revisado: 02-09-20
The author knows French, but obviously little about education. The books chapters are seperated by noun, verb, adjective, etc... as if thats how any of us think when we speak, and she rifles through terms as examples of each and then quickly tells you what she said. Never does she ask you to repeat words with her, or help you create sentences, or ever go over scenarios, and if her intent was to create an audio book you could do in the car... maybe she should stop asking you to look at your PDF document. Oh ya, and author, Im talking to you when I say.... never beg for reviews, and especially at the end of every chapter, it sounds whiny and desperate. Its teachers like this that wasted years of highschool language classes, teaching a language in parts, to not have a single student confident in communicating another language.

As Marcus Buckingham and Ashley Goodall show in this provocative, inspiring book, there are some big lies - distortions, faulty assumptions, wrong thinking - running through our organizational lives.

Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google are the four most influential companies on the planet. Just about everyone thinks they know how they got there. Just about everyone is wrong. For all that's been written about the Four over the last two decades, no one has captured their power and staggering success as insightfully as Scott Galloway. Instead of buying the myths these companies broadcast, Galloway asks fundamental questions.
