Good then took a turn rather than a twist

Overall the book was a decent mystery. It started out with a nice plot. I felt like the plot became a new book with what was meant to be a twist. It was too far fetched to really give a suitable ending. The book was too choppy gummy taste.

Engaging story

I loved the narrator on this audio version and the story was engaging and compelling on a level that made me want to keep listening. It had a good plot twist. This author cranks out books that are very similar but this one was different in a good way. Nothing too disturbing or heartbreaking going on for too long. No rehashing of the past, no child in imminent danger. I liked it!

This was such a great listen! The stories were fanciful, there was lots of humor, and it was nice that you could hear a few short stories and then come back to the book and not miss anything really. Lots of satire, commentary on society, and philosophy woven into each entertaining story grouping. I loved it!

What a let down

I enjoyed the first 1/2 of the story. It held some intrigue as a romantic plot line emerged. However, that was hacked up to bits and replaced with whiny family drama and very sporadic details that were hard to keep up with. Overall the ending was nice but I felt like listening to the last half of this book was a waste of my life.

Tremendous narration

I am glad I listened to this! It took awhile but it was worth it. There’s definitely more war then peace but the narrator did an amazing job and made it enjoyable to listen to. The story is amazing and the philosophy at the end is wonderful! Tolstoy had an advanced mind and ability to contemplate and communicate life.
