Historia
Hiking with Nietzsche is a tale of two philosophical journeys - one made by John Kaag as an introspective young man of 19, the other 17 years later and in quite different circumstances: as a husband and father. Both journeys are made in search of the wisdom at the core of Nietzsche's philosophy, but they deliver him to radically different interpretations and, more crucially, revelations about the human condition.

Another great book by John Kaag
Revisado: 09-28-18
Great second audiobook of the author. He continues to show us philosophy as a practical application for our lives. Thanks for bringing Nietzsche to life!
The narrator does a superb job...I highly recommend.

Historia
In American Philosophy, John Kaag - a disillusioned philosopher at sea in his marriage and career - stumbles upon a treasure trove of rare books on an old estate in the hinterlands of New Hampshire that once belonged to the Harvard philosopher William Ernest Hocking. The library includes notes from Whitman, inscriptions from Frost, and first editions of Hobbes, Descartes, and Kant. As he begins to catalog and preserve these priceless books, Kaag rediscovers the very tenets of American philosophy.

American Philosophy In Action
Revisado: 10-19-16
Would you listen to American Philosophy again? Why?
For sure. It's packed with great historical information and then put into in a present day narrative. In this case, it's the author's own life showing us why knowing American philosophy is applicable and necessary. Loved the info on the editions of the books as well.
A must for any book collector!
Have you listened to any of Josh Bloomberg’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first one I have heard. He does a great job.
If you could give American Philosophy a new subtitle, what would it be?
How to live an American life according to the pioneers who came before...

Historia
If Max Brod had obeyed Franz Kafka's dying request, Kafka's unpublished manuscripts would have been burned, unread. Fortunately, Brod ignored his friend's wishes and published The Trial, which became the author's most famous work. Now Kafka's enigmatic novel regains its humor and stylistic elegance in a new translation based on the restored original manuscript.

Great version and narrator.

This version has an interesting account of the publication of The Trial In the last two chapters. The translation is smooth as well although this is the only version of I read and listen to.

Historia
Edgar Allan Poe was one of the greatest lyric poets of the English language. But his early work as a writer went unrecognized, and he was forced to earn his living in the newspaper business, working as an editor in Richmond, Philadelphia, and New York. Although he was respected as a literary critic, his poetry and short stories were neglected until the publication of The Raven and Other Poems in 1845, which propelled him to instant fame.

Charlton Griffin is a wonderful narrator
Revisado: 04-01-15
This recording of Poe's poems is one of the best I have heard. I enjoy the narrator, Charlton Griffin, especially on the WS Maugham books, and this is no exception. Fantastic, five stars, etc., etc.
