Historia
1883. Thaniel Steepleton returns home to his tiny London apartment to find a gold pocket watch on his pillow. Six months later, the mysterious timepiece saves his life, drawing him away from a blast that destroys Scotland Yard. At last, he goes in search of its maker, Keita Mori, a kind, lonely immigrant from Japan. Although Mori seems harmless, a chain of unexplainable events soon suggests he must be hiding something. When Grace Carrow, an Oxford physicist, unwittingly interferes, Thaniel is torn between opposing loyalties.

I really wanted to like this, but No
Revisado: 05-07-25
I struggled to make it through the repetitive and slow pace of this book. Then finally get through to the final chapters and BAM! All a lead up to a man on man homosexual relationship. Talk about a bait and switch.

Boring and Dry
Revisado: 03-03-25
Trying to prove you are the smartest author and researcher in the room does not equate to enjoyable fiction writing. I couldn't finish it. It's not often that a book causes me to become so bored that I actually forget what the book is supposed to be about. This is one of those.

What a mess....
Revisado: 01-09-25
This is a make it up as you go storyline. The author seems to have put very little forethought into this book. If it seemed interesting, at the time, it was included. Astounding scientific breakthrough? You got it! Monsters from the deep? You got it! Zombies? Why not! Robots? Well, of course there should be robots!
I couldn't make it halfway through. It's just an absolute mess. I'll be getting a refund.

Narrator ruined a great book
Revisado: 08-30-24
I thoroughly enjoy this series of books. However, the narrator, for this book, has everyone sounding like a character from an animated Disney movie. It was like listening to the reading of a children's story with an adult theme. I am struggling to finish it. If this is their narrator for future books, I will not be continuing with this series.

Who did what when?
Revisado: 04-22-24
There is so much going on, yet nothing really happening. I can multitask with the best of them, but this book is a mess of multiple storylines that are supposed to mesh cohesively. They don't. It's a wreck. Last count, 22 different characters that are shallow and boring. The narrator didn't do this book any favors, with his odd interpretation of foreign inflections. He would do better with some children's book narration.

Disappointment. Not the Usual Gray Man style.
Revisado: 03-08-24
Long before the movie, I've been a Gray Man fan from the start. This is the first one that was a big disappointment. It read like a long-winded Tom Clancy novel with more political and technology intrigue than any actually ACTION. Chapter 19 and The Gray Man has briefly fought one guy. Not sure what has happened to my favorite character. If this is the new direction and style of the series, I will sadly have to move on to something new. It was a good run.

Huh?
Revisado: 02-22-24
The author threw together all of her random, off-the-wall story ideas. The editor and publisher said, " Let's go with it." I tried, I really tried to get in to it. I spent all my time wondering what I missed. The book has no lead in or explanation of where the random, vague storylines originated. Maybe the last chapter circles back, but I couldn't make it that far.

Historia
The Titan Project—an international research station off the coast of Australia—discovers a thriving zone of life in an otherwise dead sea. The area teems with a strange bioluminescent coral that defies science, yet holds great promise for the future. But the loss of a military submarine in the area triggers a brutal attack and sets in motion a geological disaster that destabilizes an entire region. Massive quakes, volcanic eruptions, and deadly tsunamis herald a greater cataclysm to come—for something is stirring miles under the ocean, a threat hidden for millennia.

Definitely not his best
Revisado: 01-26-24
If it's not broken, don't fix it. I enjoy this series. However, this book was tough to finish. It is all over the place. Seemed as though interesting material for this book was in short supply. To fill in, for the lack of material, numerous(very numerous) characters were added. This plethora, of random characters, in no way added to the story's enjoyment. It was distracting and added no substance. Hope he gets back to actual storytelling in future books.
