When our vampire friend, Nora, reaches out for help, what choice do I have but to try? At least that’s what I tell myself when I open a doorway into an unfamiliar realm—the result being that I reunite Nora with her long-dead vampire lover. Kind of weird, I know, but that’s not the problem.

Just when we thought the threats we were facing might finally be gone, a magical attack forces us to realize we couldn’t be more wrong. As if the supposed “Pureblood” witches would stop trying to take down magical mutts like us. Among them these days is our old friend, Zachary, and if he’s behind the attack he’s right in thinking we haven’t forgotten how he betrayed us. Which may be why he decided to strike first. Like they say, there’s no animal more dangerous than one who fears itself cornered.

With the body-hopping supernatural psychos finally vanquished, it seems like it might be time to relax. You know, have some fun. Hang out with my friends. Focus on my magical education. And, if all goes according to plan, take my relationship with Kai to the next level. Trust me, having spent my early-20s locked up in an institution, I’m more than ready to celebrate that particular rite of passage.
