Historia
Abigail Haddock is stunning, sensible, and some would say...stuffy. But it's not really her fault. She was raised in one of Wessco's oldest, most affluent, aristocratic families - "stuffy" is their middle name. So is successful. Abby's working overtime to distinguish herself as a top-notch physician, just as her family legacy demands. She doesn't have time for nonsense. Tommy Sullivan's all about nonsense.

Likes/Dislikes
I liked the story line, Tommy’s character, and the male narrator’s voice. The story started out strong and I really liked it, very engaging.
But then it just didn’t really have anywhere to go, and it just kind of slow slowly died like a TV show that went one season too long.
Normally I like Andi Arndt’s voice and narrating but her British accent wasn’t great and it was obviously fake and it came in and out. The author is also not British so some of the language and wording made it pretty clear she wasn’t.

I loved this story, and the characters, and the narrators… right up until last ten minutes. Then it sucked. Still worth listening to.

I’ve brokered billion-dollar deals as the man in charge. I can handle a challenge. But Vanessa’s not just any challenge. The whip-smart finance magician has me tripping over my tongue—and other parts—when we team up to launch my family’s reality TV show. Between a sexy waterslide romp, adopting a dog, and a hike that lands her bra in a tree, we’re dangerously close to mixing business and pleasure.

Sebastian that narrator is great. Love his voice. Emma Wilder is so annoying, she only whispers talks desperately, and sounds like an overly acting high school girl in speech and drama.
The story was boring and predictable. The dialogue was written by a high school student, maybe college. No depth. Nothing original Al. Same ol, same ol. Extremely predictable. Very corny. Reminded me of a 90s half hour sitcom that didn’t make it past one season.

Was it worth it?
Revisado: 03-31-25
Halfway through the book, I started taking notes for my review. They were unfavorable at best. I borderline hated this story and most definitely hated the main character.
Linda is incredibly stupid or naive. She was conned by her second husband. He was a true con artist. We deduce this almost immediately but Linda never really does completely.
Linda is self-centered, the most unlikable lead character in any book I’ve read.
The repetition is dreadful and so unnecessary. She’s just repeating her same thoughts every two chapters. It’s way too long.
But… I can’t believe that by the end I may have actually come around, the twist and turns were surprising and well done. All three of my stars are for the end of this book. Was it worth it? Sure.

Painful
Revisado: 03-12-25
Painful. Now tbf I actually stopped listening to this book halfway through so I do know exactly how it ends. Nor do I care. But I do know, apparently, it doesn’t. It’s a trilogy and the other reviews complained how it has no ending.
Super generic same ol storyline as every other steamy FSOG-esque book. They are all exactly the same. Stop me if you’ve heard this one: A young beautiful 20-ish girl in a city swears off men and wants to focus on her career and lives in a cruddy apartment. She has no idea how she’s even gonna pay her rent next month but somehow she’s inexplicably uber independent. Her best friend is her ride or die of 2-3 years and very quirky and wild.
She meets a 30-year-old billionaire playboy, hottest man alive ever who only dates models and never falls in love… immediately falls for her within 30 minutes of meeting her. He’s slept with hundreds of models all over the world, but somehow has never met anybody like her before. Shes different. She’s rude, stubborn, whiny, and doesn’t like him (yeah right) Despite swearing to all this Independence and how she doesn’t date and can’t even stand him, Miss barely legal and Mr billionaire very quickly fall in love within 2-3 weeks. She doesn’t wanna let him into her apartment because it’s crappy, he sees it anyway, and immediately moves her into his mansion. She fights him on this you know because of her Independence. He is wildly protective and jealous. She is adamant about protecting her heart because at 21 years old she’s experienced heartache like nobody else. And he just wants to take care of her for the rest of their lives.
Some very minor miscommunication/misunderstanding happens where they briefly don’t talk. Her bestie tries to reason with her. Then he makes a dramatic show of affection and so she apologizes for the her stubbornness but also claims she’ll never change and he says he never wants her to. The end.
So…. in this book, Chloe, is a 20 year old independent girl who doesn’t wanna date at all and just wants to focus on her career. She over explains in depth about how desperately she needs this internship and how it will change her life and future…. But has absolutely no problem being insubordinate, blatantly disrespecting and back talking her boss as if she couldn’t care less if she got fired. She’s so incredibly annoying. I’m not even rooting for them at this point. He sounds like a great guy and I want him to go and find some nice girl who doesn’t fight him every single step of the way.

Who is Audrey Hoedemaker? It's a question her sister Maureen has heard more times than she can count, and she doesn't know what the short answer would be. Historia
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

I don’t wanna give anything away, just read or listen to it! At first, I’ll admit it took a minute for me to get into it. In the beginning I was so frustrated, I stopped several times and almost quit altogether. But once it picked up, it went crazy, and I couldn’t wait to find out what was happening next.

Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face. She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband. Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

Edge of your seat til the end
Revisado: 02-21-25
It’s giving movies like Before I Go To Sleep, a dark 50 First Dates, and Memento vibes. And although I did not have any major unexpected twists or true OMG moments, I could not stop listening. I could not wait to hear what happened next.
I was anxious for the main character throughout the whole book right up until the very end. A great edge of your seat read (or listen 😉).
Some readers complained it was a bit repetitive, which is understandable but what else could Freida do? The writer had no other way of telling this story. Although it was repetitive, I thought she did a great job of still making every day different, with new info, and continued to move the story along.
Throughout the book I had assumed it was predictable although I did keep wondering every chapter if what I thought was so obvious was in fact a twist. Loved the end! Great Freida book if you like her stuff, you’ll like this one too.

They never considered how his wife might react, or that by the end of the summer a man would be dead. But Blakely always got her way, and the others followed her lead—even when they knew it was dead wrong. The girls had been friends from day one at Camp Pendleton, a haven for gifted children. But their senior summer was different. When Mr. Crosby, the handsome tennis coach, wound up murdered after a reckless lie, Blakely, Grace, Meg, and Thera swore themselves to secrecy. Mostly awesome!!… but…
Revisado: 02-17-25
I really enjoyed the book, the story, the characters, the flow. Don’t read past this part….. spoiler alert; it wrapped up very quickly, and a little rushed the last hour. So much of the book was developing the characters and who they were and why they were the way they were until the end and then it just rushed the end ending with no real closure or “wrap up”. The good guy is supposed to win. But honestly, overall, I did really like it. I’ll just have to pretend that somehow it all worked out in the end & justice prevailed. Lol
