Historia
Over the past two decades, Nick Horrigan has built a quiet, safe life for himself, living as much under the radar as possible. But all of that shatters when, in the middle of the night, a SWAT team bursts into his apartment, grabs him and drags him to a waiting helicopter. A terrorist - someone Nick has never heard of - has seized control of a nuclear reactor, threatening to blow it up. And the only person he’ll talk to is Nick, promising to tell Nick the truth behind the events that shattered his life twenty years ago.

Captivating
Revisado: 05-11-25
The storyline was one of the best I’ve read—familiar in structure, yet delivered with a surprising newness that keeps you guessing until the very end. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the plot twists again. One thing becomes clear: trust no one.

Predictable
Revisado: 12-18-24
This book was so predictable, in spite of that I enjoyed the story, the problem came mostly by the narrator, I found her voice when speaking in the woman’s voice was weak and whiny, whistle day dreamy.
When she spoke in the males voice, it was very interesting. It was as it should’ve been. It’s a good story that was very weakly written.

Stay in your lane.
Revisado: 04-26-24
Let me first start by saying David Balducci is one of my favorite author. I have always enjoyed every word that he has put on paper.
Calamity of souls, although a very good title did not make for a good read. Too often he was afraid of insulting or demeaning people of color. Since the book was set in the 60s, I expected him to use the word nigger.
I feel he took the politically correct way out by starting the word and having a sentence interrupt it example nig was replaced for nigger.
The storyline was extremely predictable. There was way too much monologuing or grand speech giving too much history monologue and way too many back stories.
As a whole, the book was more apologetic than it was telling me a story of that time and error.
In regardless to the grandiose speeches they gave, and the monologues I did not feel any of the characters strength.
I was very skeptical of purchasing this book because of the septic matter, I was afraid that the septic Meriter would not be relevant or strong, and it was not relevant nor strong. What persuaded me to purchase. The book was the glowing reviews that was given I find that the reviews was much like the reviews of the musical cats saying it’s praises as if they were too scared to say that the musical was no good at all just like this book.

Historia
Critically acclaimed, perennial New York Times bestselling author Bernard Cornwell (Agincourt, The Fort, the Saxon Tales) makes real history come alive in his breathtaking historical fiction. Praised as "the direct heir to Patrick O'Brian" (Agincourt, The Fort), Cornwell has brilliantly captured the fury, chaos, and excitement of battle as few writers have ever done—perhaps most vividly in his phenomenally popular novels following the illustrious military career of British Army officer Richard Sharpe during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Truly, it is Robin Hood in Ethiopia. The narrator reading was a bit slow, the story itself was a bit predictable, however, it was well written, and enjoyable.

Surprise
Revisado: 10-08-22
So for a book that is 36 hours long you would expect a LOT of Clichés, repetition, and miss fitting information, it didn’t happen.
This book was surprisingly good. Some things I saw coming but to be honest most of its twist and turns o did not see. I was eager to hear each chapter.
if I had a complaint it would the the abrupt year change. I was taken by surprise by the quick jump that it took with no segue into it.
You do have to pay close attention because some of the things they referred to happen 15 hours ago. So sometimes connecting the dots got a bit confusing.
All in all it was a good book and I enjoyed the story.
