Historia
Titan is the first full-length biography based on unrestricted access to Rockefeller’s exceptionally rich trove of papers. A landmark publication full of startling revelations, the book indelibly alters our image of this most enigmatic capitalist. Born the son of a flamboyant, bigamous snake-oil salesman and a pious, straitlaced mother, Rockefeller rose from rustic origins to become the world’s richest man by creating America’s most powerful and feared monopoly, Standard Oil. Branded "the Octopus" by legions of muckrakers, the trust refined and marketed nearly 90 percent of the oil produced in America.

The need to understand what top-performing reps are doing that their average performing colleagues are not drove Matthew Dixon, Brent Adamson, and their colleagues at Corporate Executive Board to investigate the skills, behaviors, knowledge, and attitudes that matter most for high performance. And what they discovered may be the biggest shock to conventional sales wisdom in decades.

Good insights but to academic
Revisado: 03-23-25
This book definitely gave me a few tips and tricks to consider what I’m making sales pitch. However, it bugs itself down into the academics the data which is fine but if you’re talking to salesman sales people wanna sell, they don’t wanna be bogged down with the data.

Historia
We pile on “to-dos” but don’t consider “stop-doings”. We create incentives for good behavior, but don’t get rid of obstacles to it. We collect new-and-improved ideas, but don’t prune the outdated ones. Every day, across challenges big and small, we neglect a basic way to make things better: We don’t subtract. Leidy Klotz’s pioneering research shows why.

Its a good concept some of his examples are laughable
Revisado: 09-03-24
I was really into this book until he came across a section where he claimed that the Obama administration subtracted regulations that’s making the system better. Simple Google search will prove that notion falls. In fact, the Obama administration added more regulations to any other administration up until that point.
Another example is how the author spent much much too much time on “systemic racism “ it really takes away from his research when he tries to go political, not to mention these examples are glaringly false.

Historia
We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Why does the author feminize his voice?
Revisado: 02-24-24
Tell me you’re a beta male leftist without telling me you’re a beta male leftist. His Content is pretty good however, there’s a lot of liberal undertones in the book. He seems to be grasping at straws to find minorities and alphabet people as examples. It takes away from the entire story which is pretty basic good food for thought, but I really didn’t get anything out of this book.

Historia
In this combative, controversial book, Terry Eagleton takes issue with the prejudice that Marxism is dead and done with. Taking 10 of the most common objections to Marxism - that it leads to political tyranny, that it reduces everything to the economic, that it is a form of historical determinism, and so on - he demonstrates in each case what a woeful travesty of Marx's own thought these assumptions are.

Revisado: 12-23-23
This book is one pseudo intellectual’s drunken rants. It does nothing to lay down an argument for marx nor does it address not standing criticisms of Marxism. He attempts to use a lot of big words and has such contemptuous attitude towards the reader i found myself laughing out loud while listening to the book. Clickbait to say the least

Boring could of been an email
Revisado: 10-24-23
The author has some good things to say, but it’s way too long way to drawn out it could’ve basically been a memo instead of an entire book. If you’re clinically depressed, you might get something out of this, but if you’re just a functioning adult move on.

Historia
In this extraordinary work, Beth Macy takes us into the epicenter of a national drama that has unfolded over two decades. From the labs and marketing departments of big pharma to local doctor's offices; wealthy suburbs to distressed small communities in Central Appalachia; from distant cities to once-idyllic farm towns; the spread of opioid addiction follows a tortuous trajectory that illustrates how this crisis has persisted for so long and become so firmly entrenched.

First 1/3 great second 2/3 propaganda
Revisado: 08-05-23
The author does a good job, explaining how big pharma introduced opioids in the 90s. Then the second 2/3 of the book just goes into how we need to spend more money on treating addicts rather than imprisoning them. However, she seems to absolve anyone addicted to heroin to have any personal responsibility.

A country both admired and feared, Germany has been the epicenter of world events time and again: the Reformation, both World Wars, the fall of the Berlin Wall. It did not emerge as a modern nation until 1871 - yet today, Germany is the world's fourth-largest economy and a standard-bearer of liberal democracy.
