Historia
Kate McGuire’s life was sweet in Manhattan before she lost her restaurant job and fiancé both. But sometimes that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, and soon she finds herself starting from scratch in the island town of Coral Cay, Florida. It has everything she’s looking for: sunny beaches, friendly locals, and a Help Wanted sign in the bakery shop window. Once she convinces the shop’s crusty owner Sam Hepplewhite to hire her, Kate can’t tie on her apron fast enough. Little does she know that trouble, like warm dough, is on the rise.

Food glorious food and friends
Revisado: 04-27-25
A sweet story where they describe a lot of good food cookies, bread and ethnic foods just made me wanna nibble but it’s like a town filled with a lot of really good people so it’s just a nice read even though it’s a mystery and there is of course a tragedy because most mysteries have a tragedy linked to them. But basically just a really sweet story

Historia
Ida and Louise Cook are two ordinary Englishwomen, seemingly destined never to stray from their quiet London suburb and comfortable jobs—Ida as a budding romance novelist and Louise as a civil service typist. But in 1923, a chance hearing of an aria from Madame Butterfly sparked a passion for opera in the sisters that led to the formation of friendships with some of Europe's leading singers and their network, many of them Jewish. As the Nazis rose to power, Ida and Louise began working with the opera world's insiders to save members of the community from persecution and death.

A sweet heart warming read
Revisado: 03-25-25
I like the characters and they’re every day real life struggles to find their place in the world when things change, and I liked that they were open to looking at things another way when they read books that seem to talk to them. The voices of the characters made me see them in my head, which was very niceand I don’t think I’ve ever read a book more than once, but after listening to this one, I may.

She’s also a third-generation pilot, the heir apparent to an island plane service she runs with her grandfather. The islands—over 500 dots of windswept land that reach almost to Norway—rely on their one hardworking prop plane to deliver mail, packages, tourists, medicine, and the occasional sheep. As the keeper of this vital lifeline, Morag is used to landing on pale golden beaches and tiny grass airstrips, whether during great storms or on bright endless summer nights.

The Right Fit
Revisado: 03-09-24
In the beginning the amount the main character was in her head and commenting on things, got a little long, and in the middle of the story when she was stranded, their relationship, or the way they acted to toward each other just seemed out of sorts, and it put me off a bit. I didn’t like either character for a bit, but eventually I realized they were so much alike that they actually worked really well together, and I totally enjoyed the last half of the book

I found myself smiling as it said the last few words of the book. It’s a feel good read. With people who are at their core good people just trying to find their way through life. Refreshing.

A wonderfully visual story set in the Scottish Highlands
Revisado: 02-16-22
It made me long to visit the Scottish Highlands but not necessarily in winter. The narrator’s voice truly enhanced the story for me as it was easy to tell the difference between the young woman and anyone else who was speaking.
I enjoyed the progression of the story and could see it all in my head. I imagine one day it will be a movie. I think the author has done a wonderful job weaving a bit of truth with a rich story so poignant for our current time. Seeing the goodness that survives despite the horror and as one of the character says, the only evil in the world lives in the heart of man. We could all use some reminding of looking for the great beauty in the world and treating others with kindness and respect.
