Enjoyed Very Much!

I want to find a reason to rate this 4 stars, instead of 5, but I just can’t find a reason.
There were a few good twists, and I was happy to finally see a “step” family that wasn’t made out to be like Cinderella’s step-family!!!
It’s also just a good story about how a person can screw up, but how that doesn’t make the person a screw-up - “you are not your actions” comes to mind.

Predictable but good

I love Danielle Steel and have been reading her books for 30+ years. This was a great story, but there was SO MUCH of it that I predicted, to perfection, that it was almost a disappointment.
However, with lots of weird life stuff going on, it was also a good book to read - took me to another place & situation and didn’t take a lot of brain-space to get through it. And, to be fair, I didn’t want to put it down after I started it!

Shocking. Horrific!

I’m nearly at a loss for words to think what these children and some of the others have gone through! The fact that they stayed as long as they did just goes to show the power the abuser has over them. Sounds crazy, but it’s it uncommon. I can’t believe this woman will be out of prison in just a couple of years... I wonder how that will go...!
My heart breaks for the girls, though, when she’s out. I can’t imagine the anxiety and/or fear they may experience when she’s set free.

RomCom Delight!

I needed a lighthearted fun book after a really heavy read and this was perfect! What a fun way to start a romance, and certainly not a situation a person is likely to hear about in a normal lifetime (a bed-share)! I love the slow start at friendship, and how Tiffi’s strength builds, over time, to get rid of the old and make room for the new. And that ending! Just sweet. Really, really sweet!

Eye Opening!

Ohmygosh!!! I had NO idea!!! I don’t understand some of this stuff, but I’m smart enough to know how absolutely crazy this all is! I’m glad to finally have a better understanding of some of the things that happened back then. The complexity of the scam, and the ways in which he was SO CLOSE to getting caught, but not close enough, are astounding!

Fun Story!

Loved the story, although The ending was predictable from shortly into the book. That’s ok, because I loved the ending.
The only thing that turned me off to the Audible version was the narration. Some parts were done very well, but there were so many parts where the conversations between characters sounded very much like the narrator was reading straight from the book for the first time. It didn’t sound like an actual conversation. I’d like if it was read more like a natural conversation.
Overall, a fun story!

Difficult

I've still got about 4.5 hours to go and am having difficulty getting through this book. There is so much "fluff" added, and it feels like there's a lot of focus outside of the main characters.
I'm moving on to another book!

Didn't want to put it down!!!

A really good read - I had difficulty putting it down!!

I enjoyed the relationship between the 2 main characters, Alex/Water & Jesse, and how he was so genuine with and about her. I also enjoyed watching Water's relationships forming/growning with the other characters, especially Ginny! I love how Ginny changed in response to meeting Water - it was a fun relationship those two had.

There were some twists near the end of the story, which surprised me a little (other parts of the book were fairly predictable). I didn't know whether to be angry, or happy!

I would spend an Audible credit on this book!

Creepy and Disturbing!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narration was fantastic - they nailed the "creepy" perfectly!

Any additional comments?

First of all, I fell asleep listening to this one. So, if that's not a sign that me & this book are not a good match, I'm not sure what is... The bits I did listen to were so creepy - I truly found it disturbing. Although I appreciate the free book, and I'm probably friends with several people who would love it, it's going to be deleted off my device. I just can't see myself going back to this one again.

Keeps you guessing!

I liked the overall storyline and the twists & turns it took. There were several times I was really surprised, times I was mad, & a variety of other emotions. There were times I felt the story was slow - maybe a little too much detail? But, I'd find I had to go back & re-listen because the story had lost me to a hair of boredom. Overall, though, I really liked it!
