Historia
The Lord tells us that "the worth of souls is great," in His sight (Doctrine and Covenants 18:10). But how can we know what is true? How can we gain a greater sense of the worth of every soul—including our own? In his latest book, Elder David A. Bednar offers a compelling look at a pattern the Lord uses to bless His people: He works with us on an individual basis, one by one. Demonstrating that pattern as it occurs throughout the scriptures, in the lives of many Church leaders, and in his own ministry, Elder Bednar opens our hearts to the Lord's love for us.

I loved this story.
It definitely made me sad.
But I’m glad Jupiter was adopted into ‘Jackie’s’ home.

Historia
After the sudden death of her husband, Sheryl Sandberg felt certain that she and her children would never feel pure joy again. "I was in 'the void,'" she writes, "a vast emptiness that fills your heart and lungs and restricts your ability to think or even breathe." Her friend Adam Grant, a psychologist at Wharton, told her there are concrete steps people can take to recover and rebound from life-shattering experiences. We are not born with a fixed amount of resilience. It is a muscle that everyone can build.

I liked to learn about this topic not only for life possibilities in my life that could happen, but to understand and help others. I liked the examples and the personal stories from the author.

Historia
Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells - taken without her knowledge - became one of the most important tools in medicine: The first “immortal” human cells grown in culture, which are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than 60 years. HeLa cells were vital for developing the polio vaccine; uncovered secrets of cancer, viruses, and the atom bomb’s effects.

Interesting Story But Too Long
Revisado: 07-13-20
I enjoyed this book for at least halfway. I was hoping it was coming to an end, but I only found I was halfway. It was enough. I had learned enough about this unfortunate life of Henrietta Lacks. The medical community owed her a lot of money for her cell. It's a sad commentary on how poor the blacks were treated at this time.
