My New Favorite Author
Revisado: 12-23-19
This is the second Brian Freeman book and he is now officially my favorite author. He's an amazing writer and Joe Barrett is equally as good as a narrator. I'm about to download all Brian Freeman books. I loved every minute of this book.

Very Well-Written
Revisado: 12-07-19
This is the first book I've listened to by Brian Freeman and I'm so glad I found him. He's an amazing writer, and along with the superb narration by January LaVoy, it almost flowed like a song. I had a hard time turning the book off with the end being totally unexpected. Many male authors (sorry for the stereotype) have a hard time writing from the female perspective, but Freeman did it beautifully. Definitely treat yourself to this book.

Not really a psychological thriller
Revisado: 10-12-19
While I don't feel like I wasted a credit with this book, I can say that I'm disappointed in the plot. I though Lucy Dawson did a good job creating the characters of the two main heroines. But there was no suspense and few and predictable twists. I felt let down at the sudden end. The plot was interesting and really could have gone a number of much more interesting ways. It almost seemed that Dawson was given a word count to stay withing and narrowed the book to fit within it. It seems that critical points within the book weren't developed as they should have: what happened the memorable night at Mia's flat; innuendos about Charlotte's past from her mother-in-law, etc. I'm sure many people (as evidenced by the positive reviews) will enjoy the book. But to me, there was no mystery, no thriller, no twists, no romance, a mixed up flow, and a hurried plot. Perhaps if you like character studies, you'll enjoy the book. The narrators were very good.

Give it a chance... You'll love it!
Revisado: 08-27-19
For the first third of this novel, I was thinking, "Wow, I don't like anyone in this story." Usually, you want to bond with a character. I just couldn't. But I kept going and I'm glad I did. This book was REALLY good. I might have figured out the plot earlier than the end, but that didn't make the ending any more amazing. The narration for all characters was superb! I'm sad it's over, which is my best indication that it was a great read (listen)!

Historia
When Angela met Jason Powell while catering a dinner party in East Hampton, she assumed their romance would be a short-lived fling, like so many relationships between locals and summer visitors. To her surprise, Jason, a brilliant economics professor at NYU, had other plans, and they married the following summer. For Angela, the marriage turned out to be a chance to reboot her life. She and her son were finally able to move out of her mother's home to Manhattan, where no one knew about her tragic past.

Not a favorite for me
Revisado: 07-15-19
While I think the narrator was very good, the story for me was just bad. I had such a hard time connecting with any of the characters and the characters didn't really relate to each other at the end. It's bad when you just don't like the characters who star in the book.

Good and Bad
Revisado: 07-15-19
I will say that I was entranced with this book throughout. I even listened to it at times that I would never listen to an audiobook (e.g., cooking dinner, taking a bath, etc.). The narrators were amazing and the story held my attention. I just wish that the ending had the same intensity that the rest of the story had. I definitely recommend it and am happy I purchased it. It's just not in my top tier of best books!

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Historia
Rye Mallett, a fearless "freight dog" pilot charged with flying cargo to far-flung locations, is often rough-spoken and all business, but soft on regulations when they get in the way of meeting a deadline. But he does have a rock-solid reputation: He will fly in the foulest weather, day or night, and deliver the goods safely to their destination. So when Rye is asked to fly into a completely fogbound northern Georgia town and deliver a mysterious black box to a Dr. Lambert, he doesn't ask questions.

Enjoyed it
Revisado: 10-31-18
I LOVE Sandra Brown and have supremely loved her books for at least 35+ years. When one comes out, I'm the first to download it or read it (sometimes both). The storyline was very good and definitely worth the Audible credit. As I've stated in other Audible Sandra Brown reviews, I just don't connect with the narrator, Victor Slezak, especially when he does southern accents, as are present in many of Sandra Brown's books that he narrates. I think I would have connected much more with the hero (Rye) if he didn't sound like a red-neck southerner (hey, I don't mean disrespect, but I'm from the South and his voice/accent corresponds with no one I would think of as a hero of any romantic novel). But trying to get aside from the narrator's voice, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it. I do wish that she'd get another narrator, but regardless, I'll still read/listen to her novels, maybe read them more.
