Great example of end of days lit RPG

I picked up this series because of the reader, who was fantastic as always!
If you liked Defiance of the Fall, this is a great next book. Told in the first person which is unusual for the genre. Stats recap is told as optional chapters, like RPG downtime, which is a great way to do it.

Great for archers and bow hunters who like game lit.

If you are a fan of fantasy, archery, or even bow hunting, this is for you. Similar in tone and quality to Defiance of the Fall.
My only criticism is that the MC never harvests from animals he kills, which may be a little annoying to real hunters.

wonderful performance but too much recap and filter.

Heath did a fine job, as usual. However, the pacing and reiteration for the first three quarters was the worst in the series. just because Jason is a self aggrandizing character, the book needent be. hopefully the final cliffhanger holds promise of a sequel with less pulp.

It begs the question, "why not hire a more experienced editor, at this point"?

Great pacing and creativity, as is usual for the series. It was a relief that there was some downtime, as well as a sense of loss.
Unfortunately the editor was absent or asleep. Flagrant abuse of, "it begs the question", along with similar jargon, miss understood by novice writers. If this series was given a refresh by a more ruthless, and learned editor it would make strides.
