Historia
In the wake of death and betrayal, Vala flees the island of Garlin with Xavyn in search of the truth about her identity. To find the answers they seek, they must first cross The Divide - a mass of cloud and fog that has separated human lands from the rest of the world for hundreds of years. As they pass through what is meant to kill all who draw near, a surge of magic emerges, bringing death to some and more power to others. In turn, The Divide is weakened, the fog dissolving enough to reveal what lies beyond, reigniting thoughts of war between sides.

A great sequel
Revisado: 01-09-22
Dare I say I liked book way more then the first? Book two was packed with character development and new setting ! I Thoroughly enjoyed how the story unfolded while still managing not to loss sight of our heroine main journey . Who went though a lot of growth. I honestly can’t wait to read book 3 !

A unique YA series
Revisado: 09-30-21
I loved this book ! And can’t wait to read on in the series! while I knew from the synopsis that I might enjoy Series since it seem like it would slot in perfectly with my interests. I was honestly blown away ! I loved the world building and characters.
The characters were unique and multifaceted . Which leaves you wanting to know more . While picturesque language allows you to become full immersed in the story. Honestly I can’t wait to see where book two takes me.

Historia
When 14-year-old Mattie Sullivan asks Spenser to look into her mother’s murder, he’s not completely convinced by her claim that the police investigation four years ago was botched. Mattie is gruff, street-smart, and wise beyond her years, left to care for her younger siblings and an alcoholic grandmother in a dilapidated apartment in South Boston. But her need for closure and her determination to make things right hit Spenser where he lives - they’re the very characteristics he abides by.

RBP is gone but Spenser & Co. lives on.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Robert B. Parker will be missed, but Ace Atkins does a creditable job of continuing to breath live into his characters. Some of their dialog is cliched, almost as if it was extracted from previous stories, but they do ring true. Prior to hearing the story, I was concerned that this might not be the case, Now, I feel good that the Parker estate chose wisely in their selection of Atkins and believe that the characters will continue to evolve, as he becomes more comfortable with them. Atkins provides us with a glimpse into Hawk's background that was never shared with us before, which brings up the question as to whether it's an attempt on his part to make a personal contribution to the Spenser storyline, or if he's treating us to a bit of background that Parker had previously held back. Joe Mantegna turns in his usual excellent performance, which goes a long way toward helping us accept Spenser's new chronicler. All in all, a recommended listen.
What does Joe Mantegna bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Joe Mantegna brings Spenser and his associates to life. He has a great feel for the character and his relationships that has grown out of not only his previous readings of Spenser novels, but also his portrayal of Spenser in made for TV movies. His voices, inflection, and timing are dead on as he delivers our favorite private eye's one liners.

"The city of San Francisco is being stalked by a huge shaved vampyre cat named Chet, and only I, Abby Normal, emergency backup mistress of the Greater Bay Area night, and my manga-haired love monkey, Foo Dog, stand between the ravenous monster and a bloody massacre of the general public. Whoa. And this is a love story? Yup."

More fun with old fiends (the blood sucking kind)
Revisado: 04-09-12
What did you love best about Bite Me?
Books by Christopher Moore are always entertaining and this one was no exception. It was great to hear what happens to our friends/fiends after You Suck ended.
What other book might you compare Bite Me to and why?
One can't help comparing this story to the other books in the series: Bloodsucking fiends and You Suck, or with Dirty Job, which takes place at the same time as You Suck and Bite Me. Moore's humor is top-notch, though I liked the other three a little bit more.
Have you listened to any of Susan Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
As with Bloodsucking Fiends and You Suck, Susan Bennett's performance on Bite Me was brilliant. She really brings the characters (even the dead ones) to life and her comedic timing is perfectly matched to Moore's
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
While I'd have loved to listen to this book all at one setting, that wasn't possible. That said, I admit that on more than one occasion, I sat in my car listening to it for 5 or 10 minutes after arriving at my destination - just to hear what happens next.
Any additional comments?
A must-hear selection from one of the funniest writers on the planet.
