Historia
One night, Annie went missing. Disappeared from her own bed. There were searches, appeals. Everyone thought the worst. And then, miraculously, after 48 hours, she came back. Though she couldn't, or wouldn't, say what had happened to her. But something happened to my sister. I can't explain what. I just know that when she came back, she wasn't the same. She wasn't my Annie. I didn't want to admit, even to myself, that sometimes I was scared to death of my own little sister.

Spooky!
Revisado: 03-10-19
Beautifully narrated, Richard Armitage was the perfect choice for a sarcastic, disillusioned man with so many demons in his past.
The book had lots of twists and kept surprising me to the very end.

Revisado: 12-29-18
Well written with a nice intellectual angle.
Interesting tension build up.
I like a little more action but good for anyone who likes the romantic comedy with a little somethin somethin that comes with time and love.

Pressure building, pressure unrelenting
Revisado: 12-15-18
Full disclosure - I LOVE this series.
The narrator is simply amazing with multiple characters and dozens of accents perfectly executed. He sounds as excited to read as I am to hear the book. Massive high energy action scenes to tender love scenes written and narrated with passion and sensitivity.
Only 1 book this time 😩
Spoiler alert.
Much as I loved this book, I did miss Howie and the team. Especially Cookie & Momo.

Historia
Ehd's a caveman living on his own in a harsh wilderness. He's strong and intelligent but completely alone. When he finds a beautiful, young woman in his pit trap, it's obvious to him that she is meant to be his mate. Elizabeth doesn't know where she is or exactly how she got there. She's not at all interested in Ehd's primitive advances, and she just can't seem to get him to listen. No matter what she tries, getting her point across to this primitive but beautiful man is a constant - and often hilarious - struggle.

Historia
A new landscape was formed after the storm, and with it the promise of a new beginning. One race to dominate this land. One race to survive. Words were uttered beneath the Saxon while Howie fought the undead. Words that brought a whole new pressure. To be relentless and unceasing. To charge forward and never give up. To do what it takes to survive. That pressure was building, and it became too much. Howie faltered, losing his mind as they ran through the fog and sought the doctors so desperately needed.

100% addicted.
Revisado: 09-23-17
So what's soooo good about this series when I've abandoned many others?
The characters - so varied, so real, so down to earth. I cry with them, I laugh with them (and their stupid jokes), I fall in love with them. I am strangely proud of who they are.
The plot - keeps twisting and turning without being ridiculous. Battle scenes are huge and inspirational, the smaller, quieter moments are often hilarious and equally often lovely, small studies of human nature.
The narrator - Joe Jameson does a simply outstanding job of bringing the many key characters and scenes to life. He is a HUGE asset to the series (as was the narrator of the early books, Dan Morgan).
Full disclosure - I'm British (living in Oz). The story and narration are British. With the abundance of American options on the market, for me, this series really stands out as a study of human nature in the face of extreme adversity. If you like the English accent (of which Joe does a fab job of many and varied accents) you will quickly become addicted to The Undead.
As with all well written 'zombie' shows, it's not about the zombies so much as what their presence brings out in the survivors, tho to be fair, in The Undead series, the infection is an interesting character in itself, which offers another unique dimension.
If you hadn't noticed, I really love this series. When new eps come out I listen to all the old ones again just to string out the suspense and make the new eps last longer.
I've just discovered RR's sci-fi series Extraction also which is proving interesting too.
What a bloody talented man!

Predictable & middle of the road
Revisado: 04-28-16
The premise looked good and a book read by the author is usually a plus but I found Shandy's voice so grating I could barely listen. Check the audio before you buy! It could well be that that is what Georgia gals sound like (I'm a Brit on Oz).
The plot was somewhat silly and after the initial lay-down, all very predictable.
I found the story-line very vanilla and 'nice' I maybe just like a little more darkness in my characters.
Lesson learned - if you like something fluffy and happy, (and why the hell shouldn't you) then you may well love his book and it's characters. If you appreciate sarcasm as a form of wit, and a bit more grit to your characters, give this one a miss.

Can't get enough!
Revisado: 02-01-16
Just an outstanding series. I'm not a massive fan of the genre but just as The Walking Dead, this more about the character interactions and development than actual Zombie life (tho that is certainly included and is developing rather than just the same old mindless (lol) drudgery of your average Zombie story).
I've never been so addicted to a series - I'm on my second round of 3 extra credit purchases as there is NO WAY I can wait the necessary 16 days for the next instalment! (I will no doubt finish part 5 in a day or so)
I often use audiobooks as a bit of gentle lulling to sleep but was up till 3.30 this morning listening before I finally could bear to not extend that sleep timer 1 more time.
Hands down the best audiobook I've ever had the privilege to listen to and I have listened to hundreds.
Superb work by author and narrator alike.

Well done YA apocalypse. Narration....notsomuch
Revisado: 11-27-15
Cool story, well written.
A narrator can make or break a book, particularly a coming of age story in the the 1st person - has to be spot on to be believable.
Im sorry but the over-regular and rhythmic voice grated severely on my nerves. Sounds like it's being read - more acting required. Smart girls don't think or talk like that.

Good Actors & Story (no spoilers)
Revisado: 08-15-15
I know & already like most of these actors from British TV and movies so of course this contributed to my enjoyment.
The plot was a little farfetched but this is a work of fiction. It may also have suffered a little in translation.
There were some truly awful sound effects of mundane actions but these are ignorable.

Outstanding in it's genre
Revisado: 05-01-15
Last in the series this audiobook has heaps and heaps of sex scenes (constant and no demure references, the real deal!) but still maintains a strong, not entirely predictable plotline. There was one point where there had been so much sex and the circumstances got serious so I thought 'OK here comes the boring bit' but NO - more sex and still an intriguing story. The narrator Edita Brychta captures all the characters very well, nothing too OTT. So nice to hear an English accent for a change.
So refreshing after 50 shades to have good female lead and a male character not bent on punishing himself and all those around him. Also beats Sylvia Day hands down.
Superb work Jodi - a great Midlands girl. I'm now looking at your back catalogue.
