Historia
The Frosts are a typical American family. Barb and John, married almost 50 years, are testy and bored with each other...who could blame them after all this time? At least they have their daughters - Barb's favorite, the perfect, brilliant Juliet; and John's darling, the free-spirited Sadie. The girls themselves couldn't be more different, but at least they got along, more or less. It was fine. It was enough. Until the day John had a stroke, and their house of cards came tumbling down. Now Sadie has to put her career as a teacher and struggling artist in New York on hold....

Good story…
Revisado: 04-29-25
I enjoyed the story, however, the language was a lot! Lots of F-bombs, took away from the over all pleasure of listening.

Not worth it

Even for free., this was not an enjoyable listen at all. The story was very predictable and the voices seemed inconsistent.

Mike Cavanaugh was a firefighter; it was his job to rescue people. Though inviting them home wasn't usually part of the job description. But when he pulled Christine Palmer out of her burning house, something about the gutsy single mom made him want to protect her, to make her life a little better.

The story was okay, but the love making scenes were a bit… not so good, unnecessary. Ick.

The reading…
Revisado: 07-06-24
The AI reading is just AWFUL!!! We need “actual, real, human” readers! AI just can capture the understanding of what is being read, The inflections are all wrong and changes the whole concept of what is going on in the story. Thank goodness this was a free book, but even so, it should not be offered up at all for listening!!!

SO disappointing!
Revisado: 01-19-24
This was a very disappointing listen. I couldn’t stand the character Vivian! She was absolutely, terrifyingly disappointing as a person! Flip-flopping in her regard for the Dr. and her ridiculous attachment to Gogo. Why she treated her “so called friend” like an imbecile rather than a close adult friend was stupefying! This was such a frustrating listen. I believe I’m done with this author.

Graphic
Revisado: 01-13-24
I realize that the history of the Tzar Romanovs is graphic in every way. However, I had such a difficult time with the graphic details relating to their demise that it took away from the rest of the story. I just couldn’t listen to it any longer. That is just me. I also had a difficult time following the Anna’s in their time lines. Again, just me. Overall, not at all my favorite read.

This story was very slow to draw me in. When I finally found interest in a character, I found that I knew what would happen before it happened. It was a very disappointing listen for me.

This is disappointing
Revisado: 08-29-23
What a disappointment! I should have read the reviews but I didn’t because I have enjoyed nearly all of Louise Penny’s books, yet this was the a huge disappointment. The narrator was fine, I like his voice and in past books did a fine job of creating different voices for the different characters. But this story was too easy to figure out and had very little twist and turns, no intrigue at all. So sad.

Best book in many months!
Revisado: 04-12-21
I absolutely loved this book! After numerous “meh” books I’ve listened to in the past few months, this has filled my heart and soul with the pleasure of a well written and well told story! This book made me laugh out loud and in a couple places, brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for a well presented story and to the women who narrated this story. Well done everyone, you brought this story to life!
