If it weren't for the part at 3 hours left

It had some promise. With some romance and some push and pull, some misunderstandings and some sex. But the screechy hysterical voice and actions of the female character at about 3 hours from the end of the story. I just can't. It sank like a stone for me there. I can't help that I've gotten allergic to when the female heroines in romantic stories just has to get a bit hysterical, too dumb, overreact at conflict or some drama. Especially when it often feels like it is a woman character that is well educated, smart and often level headed in almost all of the story. So she should be able to get upset, sad, angry, and reach a road bump in a story without it suddenly turning to her getting illogical, hysterical. But no, she just has to get a bit screechy and acting like a desperate ditsy character all of a sudden? Calling and texting desperately, why? And it is too bad she had to be that annoying, just had to go there. Because it would have been really good for me if it weren't for that turn at approx 3 hours left.

When lack of communication goes too far.

It can be cute with some misunderstandings, lack of just having straight communication when you feel unsure, confused in a love story.. When you are unsure of how the object of your affection really feels, like the heroine here. But when the longer you get into a story and the woman and man that cleary want eachother ends up as rational and communicative as high school students that seem to almost want to misunderstand and draw too quick conclusions. Then you have a bit of a hard time to just root for the characters for hours on end. When they again and again can’t be just honest and ask straight up questions as grown ups. It gets too much, too many unworthy turns for smart people to take. Like in a day time soap almost. Too bad. Because it was promising in the beginning when they met on the plane. And the narration isn’t bad.

Too stupid characters, missunderstandings galore

It was kind of a charming story with an owner of a bakery that meets a hot SWAT cop and they fall in love in the first part of the book.
But she (the bakery owner) has a secret that you just know early on will be a reason for the character to again and again make stupid mistakes and not be honest until there is so many missunderstandings and annoying moments that you just want to scream ”But just say it already”.
So when there was about 3 hours left of it. Both her and a person that is supposed to be a smart SWAT cop continues to not ask straight up what is going on. But instead just makes everything worse with wrong conclusions, and lies, that makes everything too stupid in the end. And it all could have been avoided if they weren’t so stupid.

Heartbreaking childhood & only half good narration

Small spoiler alert:
I always think it is heartbreaking when children are victims of abuse. Nothing different with that topic in this book.

Personally I had a bit of an issue with the fact that not even once did the characters even talk around the subject of trust surrounding having sex, I just figured that might be a topic to come up when one had been abused as a really small kid. But hey, that might not be strange at all.

Not really any characters with a sense of humour. More serious and straight forward. One with a hero complex but not much personality. One with a horrible childhood that runs from her feelings. And not much personality.

It is an ok story for the most part. For me personally I just have an issue with the female narration, so when I had listened to a part where the male narrator had spoken, I noticed I got sort of dissapointed as soon as it was her turn again. But if you like the female narrator, I guess it is better. .

Love the environment and sweet characters

If you expect alot of steamy sex scenes. This is not for you. It is more a sizzle with a few sparks. And the rest is a sweet romantic story in a farm environment with alot revolving around food and family.

Last 1/3 ruined a higher rating

I really liked the first parts of this. It was towards the last 3 hours of the listen where a few decisions from first of all the male lead, made the really good listen go from perhaps a 4 to 2.5/3. I don’t like it when a sudden decision, twist makes a character that for hours didn’t come off as stupid. All of a sudden do, just to give a twist or for drama. It has to be a bit more subtle or intelligent to not take away from the whole experience of the story. It is a cute listen otherwise. Some hot sex. And a cute and smart kid that unlike the grown ups, doesn’t do sudden stupid shit towards the last 1/3 of the book.

Last 1/3 is beyond annoying

I think the story had alot going for it in the beginning. But both main characters just turn the last couple of hours into a cluster f of stupid decisions and stupid decisions. Not like one, out of pressure, where you can write it off. But several of the kind that if it would have been a movie you would sit and say to the screen ”don’t go in there, don’t do it, don’t be so stuoid, call 911 first”. So, I want credit back for the last extremely irritating hours.

When you early on think: ”you can’t be as stupid as just thinking it is a person doing something threatening, and then just go on and on without seeing the signs it isn’t that person” about a character. You have a hard time hearing anything good. Too stupid characters.
