Historia
Lyla is in a bit of a rut. Her post-doctoral research has fizzled out, she’s pretty sure they won’t extend her contract, and things with her boyfriend, Nico, an aspiring actor, aren’t going great. When the opportunity arises for Nico to join the cast of a new reality TV show, One Perfect Couple, she agrees to try out with him. A whirlwind audition process later, Lyla finds herself whisked off to a tropical paradise with Nico, where the two of them will compete against four other couples in order to win a cash prize. But not long after they arrive, things start to go wrong.

Ruth Ware hits it out of the park again.
Revisado: 06-05-24
I have read all of her books and have not come across one I did not like. I wasn’t sure at the beginning if I was going to like this one, but it didn’t take long for the pace to pick up. Yes the premise is about a reality show and contestants stranded on a desert island but it quickly becomes a character driven story which Ware is so good at. I kept guessing along the way how I thought it would end and got it partially right but her ending was better than mine. I can’t wait for her next book.

Historia
A pool boy enters a secluded Bel Air property and discovers two bodies floating in the bright blue water: Gio Aggiunta, the playboy heir to an Italian shoe empire, and a gorgeous, even wealthier neighbor named Meagin March. A married neighbor. An illicit affair stoking rage is a perfect motive. But a “double” in this neighborhood of gated estates isn’t something you see every day. The house is untouched. No forced entry, no forensic evidence. The case has “that feeling,” and when that happens, Milo turns to his friend, the brilliant psychologist Alex Delaware.

Disappointed
Revisado: 02-17-24
Oh, Jonathan......what a disappointment. I have been a fan of yours, Alex, and Milo's since you first introduced them. I have loved following their adventures as well as their relationship. Unfortunately, this one fell flat. Not enough character development for me to care about any of the characters which left the whole story flat. I am hoping this was just a fluke as I look forward to your next book with great expectations.

In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Yawn
Revisado: 03-06-23
Despite the mixed reviews I decided to give this a chance. I can usually count on Dean Koontz for a good story. This one dragged on, and when something finally started to happen, I almost stopped listening it seemed so ridiculous and far-fetched. Sorry, Dean, I say save your money.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Can't say enough
Revisado: 08-08-22
My usual listening genre is detective, mystery, suspense, but the review for this book were over the top so I decided to give it a try. I don't find offering synopsis of the books in these reviews to be useful, so will offer my thoughts instead. This is a book for everyone. Well written, well developed characters - made you care for each and every one of them. Perhaps a tad unrealistic but a feel good story for all of us when things around us can seem so dark.
