Historia
When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency, hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly Gibney is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has Covid. Her (very complicated) mother has just passed away. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny’s desperate voice makes it impossible to turn her down. Meanwhile, mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. But they are also harboring a shocking, unholy secret.

Revisado: 09-27-23
I just finished it. Loved it. You can read this as a stand alone story or if you've been following Holly and her stories, this is a perfection addition.
The pacing, the building of the story and suspense combined with an amazing narrator made this a great experience to listen to.
You already know Stephen King is an amazing writer. What tends to ruin a book for me is how it's read. No so here. She makes changes to her voice for different characters, can shout or whisper and infer a sense of being tired or irritated as the character needs. It really brought this story to an amazing experience. Youll love it.

Historia
Back in the fall of 2016, we heard the news about the passing of Eddie Antar, "Crazy Eddie" as he was known to millions of people, the man behind the successful chain of electronic stores and one of the most iconic ad campaigns in history. Few things evoke the New York of a particular era the way "Crazy Eddie! His prices are insaaaaane!" does. The journalist Herb Greenberg called his death the "end of an era" and that couldn't be more true. What's insane is that his story has never been told.

A back story and adventure I knew nothing about.
Revisado: 04-13-23
This was a fun ride. The scams, the chaos, the multiple cons...this guy did anything and everything to make another dollar.
This tells a story I admittedly, never knew about. There are laws, double checks and so much more in place now due to guys like this.
Learn about the scams, adventures and con stories that go from mild to insane.
I'll likely listen to this again eventually.

Historia
By age 24, charming mob boss Michael Franzese was one of the wealthiest people on Fortune magazine’s survey. As one of the rare people who quit the mob and lived to tell about it, Franzese has a unique perspective on how business is done. And one thing he noticed was that the way he made millions per week in business inside the mob can be applied to doing business outside the mob (minus the illegal part).

I enjoy his YouTube channel. His narration and recollection of historical Mafia events is enjoyable. It's like a long chat and story telling from the man himself.

Historia
During Wall Street's last big bull market, there were brokers in $3,000 suits, billion-dollar IPO's, and 30-year-olds making $100,000 a month. And then there was Louis Pasciuto, who came from Staten Island at the age of 19 and discovered one indelible truth about himself: He was born to steal. This is the astounding, true story of the rise and fall of this fast-talking, street-smart wiseguy, as well as the insidious ways the Mob infiltrates, then controls, Wall Street.

Can't describe it any better. It's a wild ride. Don't understand the low ratings. It's entertaining, wild and the fact that it isn't fiction just made the ride that much more wild.

The Mob was the biggest, richest business in America...until it was destroyed from within by drugs, greed, and the decline of its traditional crime family values. And by guys like Sal Polisi. As a member of New York's feared Colombo Family, Polisi ran the Sinatra Club, an illegal after-hours gambling den that was a magic kingdom of crime and a hangout for up-and-coming mobsters. But the nonstop thrills of Polisi's criminal glory days abruptly ended.

A story about Wiseguys told by a Wiseguy
Revisado: 04-13-23
I really enjoyed this. Narration was perfect for the genre. I've been on a "mob kick" for months now taking in all I can.
This is a historical look at Mafia history, told as an entertaining story. Think Goodfellas, Casino, etc.
I could and probably will, listen to this again down the road.

This is the true crime best seller that was the basis for Martin Scorsese’s film masterpiece GoodFellas, which brought to life the violence, the excess, the families, the wives and girlfriends, the drugs, the payoffs, the paybacks, the jail time, and the Feds...with Henry Hill’s crackling narration drawn straight out of Wiseguy and overseeing all the unforgettable action.

Historia
Genovese, Gambino, Bonnano, Colombo, and Lucchese. For decades these Five Families ruled New York and built the American Mafia (or Cosa Nostra) into an underworld empire. Today, the Mafia is an endangered species, battered and beleaguered by aggressive investigators, incompetent leadership, betrayals, and generational changes that produced violent, unreliable leaders and recruits.

Detailed but not a riveting "story".
Revisado: 04-13-23
I enjoyed this throughout however, it's a very detailed read of people, places and dates. While it doesn't read like a history book (it's.mote entertaining than that) it's not exactly done as a story.
Basically, if you like "Casio", "Goodfellas", even "Boiler Room" or "The Wolf of Wall Street" this will not give the same experience. Its nothing I'll feel compelled to go through a second time. But still, very informative while less entertaining.

Historia
Mafia Prince is the first-person account of one of the most violent eras in Mafia history - "Little" Nicky Scarfo’s reign as boss of the Philly family in the 1980s - written by Scarfo’s underboss and nephew, "Crazy" Phil Leonetti. The youngest-ever underboss at the age of 31, Leonetti was at the crux of the violent downfall of the traditional American Mafia in the 1980s when he infiltrated Atlantic City after gambling was legalized, and later turned state’s evidence against his own.

Factual WITH an entertaining story,
Revisado: 04-13-23
If you enjoy a good mob story, "Casino", "Goodfellas", etc, this is a perfect fit. Add in that it's told by a mobster and a factual account of people and events and it's simply perfect.
I was introduced to some mobsters I didn't know much about and it's gotten me interested in researching their stories as well. No regrets and just as importantly, well narrated.

Historia
John Gotti was without a doubt the flashiest and most feared Mafioso in American history. He became the boss of the Gambino Crime Family in spectacular fashion—with the brazen and very public murder of Paul Castellano in front of Sparks Steakhouse in midtown Manhattan in 1985. Not one to stay below law enforcement’s radar, Gotti instead became the first celebrity crime boss. His penchant for eye-catching apparel earned him the nickname “The Dapper Don;” his ability to beat criminal charges led to another: “The Teflon Don.”

I enjoyed this a lot. Narrator is wonderful and has a conversational tone about him. Basically "telling the story" which is what I look for.
Hearing the story from the governmental side was new form me. This is the "good guys" saying how they went about getting the "bad guy". It covers the struggles of busting the Telon Don and why it didn't happen right away.
Loved it.

Revisado: 11-26-22
Admittedly, as a “super fan” of all things Karate Kid/Cobra Kia (even with a tattoo to show it) I knew I’d enjoy this. I LOVED it!! Being read by Ralph was the icing on the cake for me.
You’ll learn a lot behind the scenes things, the strong bond Ralph and Pat Morita shared, stories, how Ralph came to accept his typecasting and especially heartwarming for me; how he realizes these movies left a lasting legacy for any child of the 80s.
I’ll listen to this more than once and you probably will too. If you’re a fan of Ralph’s work or simply just the Karate Kid franchise, this will be an enjoyable journey to take. I loved every chapter.
