I loved this so much I started listening to it again as soon as I finished it! So funny I laughed out loud many times. I just love Patrick’s humor and Steven Rowley’s voice and delivery are so perfect. These books are just total comfort reads for me.

I loved all the Sound of Music references. I’m around the same age as Patrick and also loved that movie as a kid, and in fact had just watched it with my daughter only a week or two ago!

I only wish a certain character had more page-time, but other than that I totally loved it.

I’m a big fan of Nikki’s Valor and Doyle series so I was excited for this. It started off a bit slow. A little boring at first, but I stuck with it and ended up enjoying it. It was a good mystery and Tallus and Diem are an interesting opposites-attract pairing. It was a good start and I’m definitely going to read the next one.

Nick Russo’s narration was good. Maybe a little over-the-top on Diem’s tough guy voice, but otherwise great. He’s one of my favorite narrators so I forgive him for that choice.

As much as I love their mysteries, it was really fun to have an entire book dedicated solely to Quaid and Aslan’s relationship and wedding. There were a lot of really funny parts and a lot of very sweet emotional parts. I love how Aslan wanted to make Quaid’s dream fairytale wedding a reality. He’s so indulgent and just adores Quaid. Love to see it.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Nick J Russo and he was great as usual. He had a fantastic delivery on so many lines. He really brings the story to life.

This was my third time reading this trilogy. It’s a total comfort reread/relisten for me. Glen Lloyd does an amazing job portraying Justin and Dallas. Unfortunately there are a few editing problems with the audio, especially on the second book, but I just have to overlook them because otherwise the performance is wonderful. NR Walker and Glen Lloyd are a match made in heaven.

Sweet NA/college gay romance with trans rep

4.5 stars. After taking time off to transition, 25 year old introvert Ben is back at uni and vows to make more of an effort to be social. He’s a lot more confident after top surgery and a few years of hormone therapy, but is still scared to be open about being trans to his flatmates and is terrified of dating after a few bad experiences. When he hits it off with his roommate’s friend Sid, Ben realizes he needs to take a leap of faith that Sid will be worthy of his trust.

This is my second time reading this book and it’s just the sweetest story. Ben and Sid are total sweethearts. Ben is at a place where he’s very happy with his body, but he still occasionally struggles with gender dysphoria and internalized transphobia. He always immediately challenges his own negative thoughts and refers back to coping mechanisms and affirmations he learned from his therapist. He’s pretty insecure and has trust issues, but luckily Sid is smitten with him and up for the challenge of earning Ben’s trust. Sid is so gentle with him and does his own research so he can be as considerate and respectful as possible. The two talked everything out before getting intimate and I loved that. I liked watching Ben get more confident and come out of his shell over the course of the book. I also loved Ben’s close relationship with his mom. She’s very encouraging and loving and I was so glad he had that solid foundation of family support. One thing that kind of amused me was how polite these two guys are. I think it’s the politest romance novel I’ve ever read!

I listened to the audiobook and Lewis Carter did a great job with the narration. I especially liked how he did Sid’s voice. It was very easy to tell the two main characters apart.

𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘚𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 is the 5th book in a very fun NA/college series set in England, but it can be read as a stand alone.

CW: Gender dysphoria, internalized transphobia, brief recollected transphobia, and unfortunately this book is a few years old and has a couple Harry Potter references but honestly JKR would hate them.

After finding out he has magic in his blood, hunter and forest guide Dominai arrives at the Crux, the center for magical study in his kingdom. As readers, we follow Dominai as he learns about the different schools of casting spells, pushing his body and mind to its limits, reaching heights of pleasure and pain that he never imagined.

When I heard this book has a kink-based magic system, I had to check it out immediately. I figured I’d be in for some steamy entertainment, but I wasn’t expecting the story to be so engaging and well-written. I loved open-minded, sweet, and determined Dominai, and the side characters were all interesting as well. There are a lot of steamy scenes between Dom and various genders of wizards at the Crux, mostly in the context of casting spells, but some with a special man he’s particularly attracted to. There’s a burgeoning romance there. The wizards all seem to be M-spec, which makes for a lot of fun times. Really fun read and looking forward to book 2!

Edit after reread/audiobook listen: when I saw the audiobook was narrated by Blake Lockheart, I had to listen to it! He’s a great narrator and it was fun to revisit Dom and the other wizards of the Crux—Galliva, Olbric, Arlen, Garrett and more.

CW: Implied SA of side characters, off page.

Somehow, these San Amaro Investigations books just keep getting better! This one had a lot more fantasy elements than previous books and I loved it. There’s not a lot I can say without spoilers, so I'm just going to keep this brief. I love this series and this book was incredible. I love Parker and Nick so much, I love all the found family vibe of the books, I love Sugar, and Laurel, I love Avila and Zahide, heck, I even love Tate at this point!

Some really wild stuff happens in this book and it’s wonderfully romantic too. If you’ve made it this far into this series you will not be disappointed. I can’t believe there’s only going to be one more book! I’m not ready for it to end! Luckily, I can reread or re-listen to these whenever I want. On that note, I actually got an audiobook copy before release this time and Greg Tremblay (Boudreaux) does a wonderful job with narration as usual. He’s so good at the emotional parts! Totally loved this book and can’t wait for the next one!

I’m not sure I’ve ever read a book that made me laugh and cry at the same time. I would 100% put this in my top 5 books released in 2021, and consider it an all time favorite now. There are some incredibly sad and emotional parts of this book (dealing with grief is a central theme), but most of it is just hysterically funny and heartwarming. I loved Patrick, I loved the kids, I loved his neighbors and all the other side characters. I don’t think I was expecting to love this book as much as I did! I listened to the audiobook, which is read by the author, and was hooked right from the start. Steven Rowley has a great voice and just does an incredible narration performance. Patrick is so funny and Steven’s portrayal of him and his delivery was just perfect. I highly recommend listening to the audio for this one.

I read mostly romance these days, and this book wasn’t a romance, but I didn’t miss it at all. It’s very character driven and all about Patrick’s personal growth. He’s such a compelling and lovable character. I just loved this book so much and want everyone to read it!!!

In this fifth installment of the San Amaro Investigations series, we get a continuation of the series' story arc, as well as an interesting new investigation having to do with some missing succubae—old friends and colleagues of Sugar’s. I feel like Parker and Nick’s relationship is very strong now, and both guys know they can rely on each other. They still get tested, though! Nick especially has to deal with some complex family issues. A lot of other things are up in the air at the start of the book, and I’m incredibly happy with where everything settles at the end. I don’t want to give anything away, but I was just SO happy with the ending of this one!!! I love the found family aspect of this series and that ending got me like WHOA!!! I’m such a huge fan of this series and can’t recommend it enough if you like plot-heavy paranormal investigation books with action, drama, excitement, humor, and a healthy dose of whimsicality.

As always, Greg Tremblay did a wonderful job with the narration.

I love Rebel Sky Ranch!

Animal lover and ranch foreman Sparrow hates the rodeo, but when big time rodeo star Luke McCall comes to volunteer and stay at the ranch, Sparrow realizes his expectations of Luke are not even close to the reality. Who wouldn’t love Luke once they’d gotten to know him?

I loved Luke and Sparrow together! Their dynamic was so hot, loved the rope play, loved the humor too. I always love a found family story and who wouldn’t want to live at Rebel Sky Ranch? This book didn’t have the danger and action her books usually have and I was perfectly happy with that. Just humor, love, animals, pool parties, hot guys, and of course no book set at a ranch would be complete without sexy times in a barn!

I really loved Sparrow’s style and thought he was such a unique character. I know Kelly was inspired by the beautiful Willy Cartier (go look at his Instagram!), but I think Sparrow definitely had his own thing going on and the cover model she chose is gorgeous too! I pictured Sparrow as sort of a combination of the two. Pocket-hunk Luke sounded just adorable too! He’s the kind of character you just want to hug and tell him everything will be ok! I’m so glad he got some love and support finally.

Really loved this one and I’m so excited for Wyatt and Desi’s book!
(Original review September 2021)

EDIT Jan 2023: I just listened to the audiobook and loved this book all over again. Honestly, this is probably my least favorite of the series, but I still think it’s great. Declan Winters narrates and I thought he did a great job. He gave Sparrow a very subtle accent that I thought sounded really good. And of course Luke had a nice Texas twang. I’m not sure he did Desi’s voice the way I imagined, so it’ll be interesting to see if he narrates the next one. I really loved Blake Lockheart’s narration of Goodnight, so I’m interested to see who will narrate book 3. I think either one would be great.
