Historia
Few people have made decisions as momentous as Eisenhower, nor has one person had to make such a varied range of them. From D-Day to Little Rock, from the Korean War to Cold War crises, from the Red Scare to the Missile Gap controversies, he was able to give our country eight years of peace and prosperity by relying on a core set of principles. These were informed by his heritage and upbringing, his strong character and his personal discipline, but he also avoided making himself the center of things. He tried to be the calmest man in the room, not the loudest.

A great person
Revisado: 01-08-25
Obviously, I never knew the man something always fascinated me drew me to this picture. Every time I opened up an encyclopedia or dictionary as a kid you just looked like a grandpa wish you had, and after listening to this, I realize he was.

Historia
David Icke has become world-famous for his work exposing today’s fast-unfolding global dystopia more than three decades before it became reality. They laughed then. But he didn’t stop there. He went further. Icke knew that the world of the "seen" was only a reflection of something far deeper that ultimately originates with a non-human force in another reality.

Speed it up
Revisado: 11-01-24
The default speed drags the story, I had to speed up to 1.5 and 1.7
Overall, a great book, even if currently I only believe about half of it, but who knows, maybe in 30 years he’ll be right about this as well. My keys was about the stuff he sent in 1990.

Historia
In Corporate Rock Sucks, music journalist Jim Ruland relays the unvarnished story of SST Records, from its remarkable rise in notoriety to its infamous downfall. With records by Black Flag, Minutemen, Hüsker Dü, Bad Brains, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Screaming Trees, Soundgarden, and scores of obscure yet influential bands, SST was the most popular indie label by the mid-80s - until a tsunami of legal jeopardy, financial peril, and dysfunctional management brought the empire tumbling down. This investigative deep-dive leads listeners through SST’s tumultuous history.

A great insight into a label that influenced me growing up, and opened my eyes as an 11 year old who moved from a rural town in Illinois.

Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of the most important and beloved bands in the history of rock, and John Fogerty wrote, sang, and produced their instantly recognizable classics: "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "Born on the Bayou", and more. Now he reveals how he brought CCR to number one in the world, eclipsing even the Beatles in 1969. By the next year, though, Creedence was falling apart; their amazing, enduring success exploded and faded in just a few short years.

Listen on 1.5x
Revisado: 04-12-24
I had to listen to this on 1.5x in order to speed up his speaking to a normal conversational speed.
A few parts had me choking up, a few made me laugh out loud.
I sure wish I had his gift of “songs out of the air” or just by putting keys in a door.
I glad he’s in a fantastic place now after all the BS.

I love these

I love these. I remember finding a station in 1985 from Chicago that did live broadcasts, I’ve been hooked ever since. Great stories, one in particular was almost true by today’s standards.

Really great read/listen
Revisado: 06-06-23
When I first started listening I thought “ah geez, what did I get myself into?” I thought it was going to be a preachy god book.
But, I soldiered on because I love memoirs and Megadeth.
And David’s basslines.
A great life history and personal journey.
The “god thing” never turned me off because he states it all in a way very carefully to include everyone. I’ve never tried Peavey stuff, but now I just might since he’s trusts them.
I like the “good orderly direction” mentality, you don’t need a christian faith to follow that logic.
I’d even want to have a coffee at Starbucks, chat with him next time I’m visiting friends in Mesa.
Great book from a grounded guy.

I'm the Man is the fast-paced, humorous, and revealing memoir from the man who co-founded Anthrax, the band that proved to the masses that brutality and fun didn't have to be mutually exclusive. Through various lineup shifts, label snafus, rock 'n' roll mayhem, and unforeseen circumstances galore, Scott Ian has approached life and music with a smile, viewing the band with deadly seriousness while recognizing the ridiculousness of the entertainment industry.

Amazing
Revisado: 05-31-23
I’m so glad I listened to this instead of reading it, and that it’s read BY Scott.
The way he reads it is amazing.
His humor, impersonations, and voices made me laugh often.
There’s a lot of info I never knew as well, like Cliff liking REM, wearing their shirts and turning Scott onto them.
A truly great listen.

Great story with robotic narration
Revisado: 12-15-21
The first half of this book I wasn’t sure if the narrator was actually human because he sounds like an artificial intelligence bot.
The end of the book, narrating the court transcripts he became human.
I love reading about Kerry Thornley and his association with Oswald in the early days, I’ve also followed Thornley‘s discordian movement and literature for sometime now.
