Historia
This is Reaper speaking. So begins an anonymous letter published in a Utah newspaper after a young couple is viciously murdered. Tooele County sheriff Elizabeth Gray leads the investigation into the double homicide, which is eerily reminiscent of a string of brutal killings years ago. When the letter leads detectives to yet another body, Gray calls on an old friend for help.

Excellent Character Development
Revisado: 01-12-23
Any author who developes three dimensional who are likable and flawed has my vote for 5 stars. As I listened I was worried that the all the lose ends weren't going to be solved, but they all were in a very satisfying way. Methos is an excellent writer and I will certainly be waiting and watching for the second book in this series to be released. Excellent narration as well. I strongly recommend this bood and this author to anyone who's interested in this genre.

River Rock is where she’d been abandoned by her two older sisters to suffer alone, and in silence, the unspeakable abuses of her family. It’s also where Sawyer’s best friend disappeared and two teenage girls were murdered. Three cold cases dead and buried with the rest of the town’s secrets.

Very convoluted.
Revisado: 12-27-22
Just didn't like it. If this is an example of TR Ragan's writing style, then I won't be selecting any more of her titles. The story line was convoluted. The characters weren't likeable or believable. The family situation was not very believable. You knew that the parents were guilty from the beginning, because of the way they were acting. Nope, didn't like this one at all.

Glad I tried this author.
Revisado: 12-27-22
Jason Pinter is new to me, and I'm glad I tried this book. I just got the second book in the series, and am anxious to start listening to it. The characters are very likeable and true to life. I appreciated the fact that we didn't have to listen to the murdering of the victims in minute detail, as so many authors do lately. I didn't like that there were secrets about the main characters lives that were not revealed until the last few chapters. I get very impatient with that. But really, that was the only draw back. Good book. Recommend it to any mystery/procedural fan.

Not one of Garritson's best.
Revisado: 12-06-22
Don't know if she let the co-author have more of a say in this book, or what, but it was not up to Gerritson's standards. I hated the victim. She was selfish and manipulative. We've all known women like her, and she's the kind of person who gives the ME TOO movement a bad name. And that made me angry with Tess and myself. Really, not one of Tess Garritson's best efforts.

Dull and Boring
Revisado: 12-06-22
Truth be told, I only listened to half of this book, because I couldn't stand it anymore. Character development is almost non-existent. The performance was just about as boring as the story. Her male voice made the characters sound like they're ready to fall asleep. Now, I will probably give the narrator a second chance, but not Mary Burton. I know she must have some big fans out there, but I am certainly not one of them.

People do smile once in a while, but not here.
Revisado: 12-04-22
I forced myself to finish this book. At first I listened to the critic who said it was slow to start, so I hung in there. Then I thought, well, I have this much time in it, might as well finish it. Just an all around disappointment with absolutely NO comic relief, no smiling moments. Melodrama to the hilt. And she tells you everything at least 3 times, sometimes 4. I won't listen to another book by Loreth Ann White. Not to my liking at all.

Historia
New York, 2061: The place called the Pleasure Academy is a living nightmare where abducted girls are trapped, trained for a life of abject service while their souls are slowly but surely destroyed. Dorian, a thirteen-year-old runaway who’d been imprisoned there, might never have made it out if not for her fellow inmate Mina, who’d hatched the escape plan. Mina was the more daring of the two—but they’d been equally desperate.

Excellent sequel.
Revisado: 10-06-22
Although I always look forward to a new IN DEATH book, I somehow forget how immerged in the story am by the second chapter. Don't know if it's the author or the narrator. Susan Erickson is as much "in death" as Nora Roberts (JD Robb) is. Simply a winning combination. This was a very good...excellent story. Complicated enough to keep you listening, but straight forward enough to satisfy. I appreciate how the author brings back characters so we can catch up on them. There were some very painful moments for Eve Dallas in this story, but she handled them well. Eve's growing as a person. Like that alot.

Historia
Former movie star Jenna Hughes left Hollywood for an isolated farm in Oregon to get away from fame. But someone has followed her - an obsessed fan whose letters are personal and deeply disturbing. And while Jenna's already shaken up by what she's seen on paper, she'd be terrified if she knew what Sheriff Shane Carter is investigating. It's a shocking case that started with the discovery of a dead woman in the woods. Now two more women are missing, one of whom bears a striking resemblance to Jenna...

The Cliffhanger won't make me get the next one.
Revisado: 03-05-22
I've tried Lisa Jackson before and didn't like her writing style or her always weak women, but I thought I'd try her again. Ugh!! I had to force myself to listen to this book. Very unimpressive female lead, and an equally unimpressive male lead. The heroine's daughters are very unlikeable. Actually, there isn't a likeable character in the book. And really, Lisa, you have a female police officer who doesn't object to being known by the name BJ. Give me a break. How offensive. Did we really need to be told the horrible behaviors of the killer with each and every one of his victims. Once was enough, we didn't need to hear it 3 times. Nor did we need to be told over and over again about the loss of the heroine's sister, or the hero's wife and the guilt they both felt. Boo hoo!! Well, I listened to the whole thing because it cost me a credit, but I'm absolutely not going to fall for the cliff hanger at the end of the book and get the next one. Nope, Lisa Jackson has had all the chances from me she's going to get.

Slow, slow, slow.
Revisado: 12-11-21
I didn't finish this one, it was way too slow. I decided to give Stelljis a second try, hoping his writing would have tightened up a little bit. It hadn't. The narrator doesn't help the situation at all. Had a tendency to make everyone sound dimwitted, and it doesn't help that the author is not a master of conversation. Just plane dull. So I stopped listening and won't give Stelljes another try.
