Historia
Museum curator Haven McKinney has sworn off men. All of them. Totally. She’s recently escaped a bad ex and started a new life for herself in San Francisco. She loves her job at the Hutton Museum, likes her new boss, and has made best friends with his feisty sister. Haven’s also desperately trying not to notice their brother: hotshot investigator Rhys Norcross. And she’s really trying not to notice his muscular body, sexy tattoos, and charming smile.

What can I say. This was pretty empty stuff and barely entertaining. The reader for the heroine has a pretty voice which made the heroine sound not totally impossible. The bad guys are Russian, a penis is a cock, Gee, the hunks are rich and the heroine is prim, a sex goddess and a dope who does not cooperate with anybody….the character just doesn’t make sense other than as a protean plot device.

Historia
Was it wrong to hate your patient? Probably. This was just supposed to be another job for Sloane, but somewhere along the line everything changed and she found herself risking everything for the one man who could destroy her. In the blink of an eye, Chase’s entire world was destroyed, taking away everything that he loved and leaving him struggling to go on. He hates who he’s become, hates the memories that keep him up at night, and hates knowing that the life that should have been his was gone forever. The only thing that gives him hope is the one woman he could never have.

The book is very entertaining until the H&H get stupid for the last 200 pages. These are characters I was rooting for
and the author didn’t have to dumb then down. It’s a fun read anyway and it’s advisable to skip the slogging part before the end.

Historia
Marine biologist and former government agent Doc Ford is sure he's beyond the point of being surprised by his longtime pal Tomlinson's madcap tales of his misspent youth. But he's stunned anew when avowed bachelor Tomlinson reveals that as a younger man strapped for cash, he'd unwittingly fathered multiple children via for-profit sperm bank donations. Thanks to genealogy websites, Tomlinson's now-grown offspring have tracked him down, seeking answers about their roots...but Doc quickly grows suspicious that one of them might be planning something far more nefarious.

Perfect for a devotee
Revisado: 02-19-20
This book is exactly what you expect from a RWW book and I enjoyed it a lot. His books are rather like Arizona or coconut...you either like them a lot or not so much. I think though that it’s time for him to settle down before he is just a shallow man-whore. And I think he can lighten up on the self abasement. It would be okay for him relax and enjoy the wisdom he has gained. At his age unless he gets less conflicted he’ll begin to sound like a real dodo... or not. Oh...and I really like him

I’ve always enjoyed book. I’ve read it twice. The narration is very fine. Even knowing how the story will end didn’t matter because the characters tell a good story.

Historia
I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day, it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

Revisado: 11-18-19
I don't think that Vi Keeland was involved in writing this book. It has Penelope Ward all over it. Vi writes whip smart. This book is a total mess besides being totally unbelievable. When the name Penelope appears on the book cover along with Vi's, I have no Idea what to expect.

A bit bloated
Revisado: 02-05-19
The book is really, really good and when it is bad it is bloated. The book takes a few wrong turns into bloatland when an attractive and otherwise clever heroine makes dumb as a box of rocks decisions. This plot plan fails several times and the book sags very heavily from the late 20's too mid thirties chapters. When I saw how the wind blew, I skipped chapters, just listening to their starts and ends, and really enjoyed the book when it speeded up. There is a great book wedged around the bloated parts, and judicious skipping ahead, at least towards the conclusion, made the experience quite satisfying reading. These must be early books of Thomas because her later ones are very economical.

TOO sad
Revisado: 10-05-18
The contrived ending did not make me happy enough to balance the misery described in this book. The villains were over-the-top evil. I feel like I've spent many hours in a tunnel of horrors with very little reward. I confess that I couldn't stop listening and cried a lot, but the resolution was so weak that I feel let down and depressed.

When the most eligible Earl of Rule offers for the hand of the beauty of the Winwood family, he has no notion of the distress he causes his intended. For Miss Lizzie Winwood is promised to the excellent, but impoverished, Mr Edward Heron. Disaster can only be averted by the delightful impetuosity of her youngest sister, Horatia, who conceives her own, distinctly original plans . . .

Pretty Standard Heyer
Revisado: 08-21-16
Would you try another book from Georgette Heyer and/or Caroline Hunt?
Yes
If you’ve listened to books by Georgette Heyer before, how does this one compare?
Good but not her best. The audio performance is excellent though.
Which character – as performed by Caroline Hunt – was your favorite?
The bridegroom.
Do you think The Convenient Marriage needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. None of the minor characters were worth another book. They were too silly or too nasty,
Any additional comments?
In some of her lesser books Heyer takes long detours away from the main characters and spends a lot of time on minor characters who may or not be worth it. This book is particularly convoluted.

The Misses Penelope Yarwood, Euphemia Perkins, and Letitia Helmsdale all smugly informed her that the Marquess of Cleveden was at once the most eligible and the most elusive catch in the London marriage mart. Society's most dazzling beauties had failed to win him over yet, and a newcomer like Fiona didn't stand a ghost of a chance of having him look at her twice.

Liked it OK
Revisado: 03-06-15
It's difficult for women to do men's voices. In this one our hero sounds a bit limp. The heroine wasn't given the best voice. If you go for this genre it was a pretty good story, but the narration does not hold up.
