Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

the narrator made a good story great
Revisado: 06-10-22
this book was definitely worth the one credit . this is not a book I would normally read but it was required reading for our book club. the narrator really made the story. The pacing of the book was excellent just when it started to get tedious he would insert a flashback and that would spark your interest again.

Maybe I'm just getting older. I don't mind a bit of heat but when it overwhelms or its most of the content its not enjoyable.

Historia
Mackenzie 'Mac' Wharton had agreed to guide a group that had wanted an adventure on her mountain. They got more than they bargained for when they were all abducted by a group of aliens called the Ganglians. Badly beaten and barely alive, Mac finds herself in the arms of the largest male she's ever seen. She should fear him, should be fighting to get away from him, but there was something about the massive male that called to her.

Not a good start to the series
Revisado: 12-17-17
The heroine went from whiny to crabby to bossy back to whiny. This book seems to be a set up to introduce the characters for the series and didn't have much of a plot.

Too much whinning and not anough action.
Revisado: 07-24-17
If this had been the first book I read in this series it would have been the last one for me The story line was weak and not believable. The main female character falls in bed with the lead male after they met once and a few hours after a beloved family member dies, just doesn't cut it. OK there was a feeble attempt to justify it but it just didn't work for me. For a bunch of die hard dragons/fighters I have never heard so much whinning. The narator did a good job of all the characters but some where too similar it took a while to figure them out .I have bought the next book in the series and hopefully it will be better.

A tale with many twists and turns
Revisado: 02-15-16
It's best to read these books in order. There are many subtle under currents the series was slow to come together, now the characters are well developed and the plot has humor ,twists and turns. Thanks Kevin Hearne for an enjoyable read / listen.

Historia
For someone who’s been alive for two thousand years, Atticus O’Sullivan is a pretty fast runner. Good thing, because he’s being chased by not one but two goddesses of the hunt—Artemis and Diana—for messing with one of their own. Dodging their slings and arrows, Atticus, Granuaile, and his wolfhound, Oberon, are making a mad dash across modern-day Europe to seek help from a friend of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His usual magical option of shifting planes is blocked, so instead of playing hide-and-seek, the game plan is . . . run like hell.

The best in the series to date
Revisado: 08-22-13
Mr. Hearne in this fourth book in the series, got it right with a perfect mix of humor, great story telling and a narrator that makes the characters come alive. Kudos to Luke Daniels for his great performance and pronunciation of a difficult language. It is best to read the books in order due to so many characters come and go throughout the novels. For those of you who find Oberon a hoot you will be please to hear he plays a major role throughout the whole book.
This book was well worth the credit to buy it. Enjoy

A little less talk and a lot more action
Revisado: 08-21-13
The storyline was interesting but proceeded slowly. This may be because it was the first book in the series and the Author was setting the storyline and introducing all the future characters. But it got tedious when the main characters had to discuss their feelings, thoughts and actions to the point of stalling the story. When they droned on and on the main female character started to sound childish and the male pompous. The narrator did a fine job on the voices for the secondary characters but the voice for Jacob was like gravel and Bella was high pitch and whinny. Several times I almost gave up, but the secondary characters sound more interesting and give me hope that the other books won't be so plodding.

If it's not broke .....
Revisado: 07-11-13
What made the experience of listening to Forged in Steele the most enjoyable?
You get familiar with characters though out the series, and start to look forward to their book.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
As I said If it's not broke don't fix it. Changing the narrator detracted from the flow of the series. The same characters with different voices ruins the experience.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
A quick easy listen. Reminded me of the show Bonanza where the father always had the perfect sage advice at the right time in the right place etc.. Predictable plot nothing complex
Good vacation listening.

You need to read these books in order
Revisado: 07-26-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The first quarter of the book was heavy on the Celtic mythology it made the flow of the story bog down.
Would you be willing to try another book from Kevin Hearne? Why or why not?
I have the whole series that Audible has available, and I am waiting for the next book to be added to Audible library
Which scene was your favorite?
The war scene when Atticus helped his friends get justice but they died after accomplishing their goal.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
yes as long as the first part of th book was left out
