Historia
Examining nine landmark battles from ancient to modern times - from Salamis, where outnumbered Greeks devastated the slave army of Xerxes, to Cortes' conquest of Mexico to the Tet offensive - Victor Davis Hanson explains why the armies of the West have been the most lethal and effective of any fighting forces in the world. Looking beyond popular explanations such as geography or superior technology, Hanson argues that it is in fact Western culture and values which have consistently produced superior arms and soldiers.

Extremely interesting, as all if VDH's work is. Provides an understanding of why Western culture, originating with the Greeks and Romans, has had the success that it has.

Historia
Economic Facts and Fallacies is designed for people who want to understand economic issues without getting bogged down in economic jargon, graphs, or political rhetoric. Writing in a lively manner that does not require any prior knowledge of economics, Thomas Sowell exposes some of the most popular fallacies about economic issues, including many that are widely disseminated in the media and by politicians.

All of Dr Sowell's book are a treasure
Revisado: 07-03-19
This Is a fantastic book full of hard facts, logic, and reason. It addresses many of the issues of today, and of the proceeding decades and even centuries. Education and knowledge of history and the facts are the only way to stop repeating the endless cycle of mistakes and impotent arguments. This book, as with all of Dr Sowell's books, does much to cut to the heart of these issues.

classic
Revisado: 11-05-18
excellent story and reading, my only issue was that when the reader would do some of the characters voices, he would raise the volume up his voice by several multiples, and then go back to nearly a whisper for the normal dialogue. This meant that if you had the sound up loud enough to hear his very quiet voice during the normal dialogue, you had to desperately turn down the sound whenever he would use a funny voice, or risk rupturing your eardrums.

Historia
Here is the gritty, powerful story of Thomas Sowell's life-long education in the school of hard knocks, a journey that took him from Harlem to the Marines, the Ivy League, and a career as a controversial writer, teacher, and economist in government and private industry. It is also the story of the dramatically changing times in which this personal odyssey took place.

This brilliant new treatment of the world's oldest epic is a literary event on par with Seamus Heaney's wildly popular Beowulf translation. Esteemed translator and best-selling author Stephen Mitchell energizes a heroic tale so old it predates Homer's Iliad by more than a millennium.

the story is a great version, but terrible editorialisations in the essay showing political bias detracts from it. no need for that.

Historia
Discrimination and Disparities challenges believers in such one-factor explanations of economic outcome differences as discrimination, exploitation, or genetics. It is listenable enough for people with no prior knowledge of economics. Yet the empirical evidence with which it backs up its analysis spans the globe and challenges beliefs across the ideological spectrum.

Thomas Sowell, brilliant as always
Revisado: 03-29-18
Absolutely fantastic book. Thomas Sowell is the most brilliant thinker America has ever produced. All of his works, including this, are groundbreaking and brilliant. No one digs deeper into a situation to find out what is really going on than Tomas Sowell.

Historia
In Wealth, Poverty, and Politics, Thomas Sowell, one of the foremost conservative public intellectuals in the country, argues that political and ideological struggles have led to dangerous confusion about income inequality in America. Pundits and politically motivated economists trumpet ambiguous statistics and sensational theories while ignoring the true determinant of income inequality: the production of wealth.

Historia
In this final volume of a towering work that is both literary masterpiece and living memorial to the untold millions of Soviet martyrs, Solzhenitsyn's epic narrative moves to its astounding and unforseen climax. We now see that this great cathedral of a book not only commemorates those massed victims but celebrates the unquenched spirit of resistance that flickered and then burst into flame even in Stalin's "special camps."

absolutely outstanding for, and a must-read for everyone. Especially now in a time when he's seen evil Marxist ideas are rearing their head again. If you claim to be a Marxist or socialist, communist Etc and you haven't read this book than you don't actually know what you're talking about.

Historia
This second volume in Solzhenitsyn’s narrative chronicles the appalling inhumanity of the Soviets' "Destructive-Labor Camps" and the fate of prisoners in them—felling timber, building canals and railroads, and mining gold without equipment or adequate food or clothing, and subject always to the caprices of the camp authorities. Most tragic of all is the life of the women prisoners and the luckless children they bear.

All three volume should be required reading for everyone around the world. People are already forgetting the tragedies and malignancy brought about by Marxism in the 20th century. Anyone defending or supporting Marxism, communism, or socialism should read this so that they actually know what it is they are supporting. Otherwise they are just ignorant children making noise.
