Historia
Raised as an orphan by her aunt, Chariline has only been told a few pieces of her parents’ tragic love story. Her beautiful dark skin is proof that her father was Cushite, but she knows nothing else. While visiting her grandfather before his retirement as the Roman official in the queen’s court, Chariline overhears that her father is still alive, and discovering his identity becomes her obsession. Both her grandfather and the queen have reasons for keeping this secret, however, and forbid her quest. So Chariline sneaks on the ship of a merchant trusted by friends.

The story might be good but the narrator is awful! Her various voices she uses for the characters detract from the story and I finally couldn't listen to it anymore.

Historia
The year is 1739. Eliza Lucas is sixteen years old when her father leaves her in charge of their family’s three plantations in rural South Carolina and then proceeds to bleed the estates dry in pursuit of his military ambitions. Tensions with the British, and with the Spanish in Florida, just a short way down the coast, are rising, and slaves are starting to become restless. Her mother wants nothing more than for their South Carolina endeavor to fail so they can go back to England. Soon her family is in danger of losing everything.

Fascinating Story
Revisado: 02-22-21
I thought this was a fascinating story about a dark time in US history. It makes me want to learn more about the main character Eliza Pinckney & her roll in US history during the time of slavery. Based on the authors research she sounds like a woman of compassion for all human beings & saw the cruelty inflicted on dark skinned people for what it was. She made an effort to lift up those who were enslaved & working on her families plantation with a vision to set them free & pay them for the services they provided.

Very interesting book
Revisado: 11-20-20
I enjoyed listening to this book. The stories were good to hear & I’ve always enjoyed hearing native legends & lore. What happened to the Sioux and other tribes has been a sad event in American history. But native peoples are resilient and should be proud of their heritage. The stories & legends should give hope to younger generations.

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Great read

I enjoyed this book. At times it made me laugh. It created emotions of joy toward the end and makes me wonder if a sequel will be written to carry in the story. I would definitely read it!

Join the political and cultural fight for America's freedom - and learn how to protect our nation from the leftist agenda - with this essential guide from Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth. In American Crusade, Pete Hegseth explores whether the election of President Donald J. Trump was sign of a national rebirth, or instead the final act of a nation that has surrendered to Leftists who demand socialism, globalism, secularism, and politically correct elitism. Can real America still win? And how?

I really enjoyed this book. He makes some great points and makes you think about what you can do instead of standing by and watching our country fall apart.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Amazing Story
Revisado: 10-24-20
I loved this book! Candace brings to light so many different aspects of American life for all races. I encourage everyone to read or listen to this book and take it to heart. End the victim narrative and the demeaning of black Americans by the media and the Democratic party!
