Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

A Deviation from past Plot Lines
Revisado: 07-30-21
More dependent on having read previous books, and as such didn’t develop most characters. But devoted more time to advance the plot and even add a second plot. Some will like that, I did; others, will not.
Overall, I would say you need to be a dedicated Silva reader to enjoy, but for those of us, he provided something new.

Historia
She was covered from head to toe in expensive wool and plaid, the sort of stuff one saw at the Burberry boutique in Harrods. She carried a leather bookbag rather than a nylon backpack. Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her.... At an exclusive private school in Switzerland, mystery surrounds the identity of the beautiful raven-haired girl who arrives each morning in a motorcade fit for a head of state. She is said to be the daughter of a wealthy international businessman.

Welcoming a new plot path
Revisado: 10-08-19
I was almost ready to give up on Mr. Silva as his last several books had been more of the same. And while I found those enjoyable it was difficult to recall the differences between them. This book had all the elements we have grown to love PLUS Gabriel Allon has matured significantly AND the the plot path. Many kudos. I expect it will be difficult to top this book with his next, but I will now be anxiously awaiting it.

Historia
Discrimination and Disparities challenges believers in such one-factor explanations of economic outcome differences as discrimination, exploitation, or genetics. It is listenable enough for people with no prior knowledge of economics. Yet the empirical evidence with which it backs up its analysis spans the globe and challenges beliefs across the ideological spectrum.

Great insights
Revisado: 04-15-18
For sure, Jim Clark is a complex person, but Lewis does a nice job of presenting the basic threads that show the arc of Clark’s productive life, without dragging us through too many weeds. Although, the time spent on the boat, even as allegory, was a bit extended

Historia
Congressional scholars Thomas Mann and Norman Ornstein identify two overriding problems that have led Congress—and the United States—to the brink of institutional collapse. But they offer a panoply of useful ideas and reforms, endorsing some solutions, like greater public participation and institutional restructuring, while debunking others, like independent or third-party candidates. Above all, they call on the media as well as the public to focus on the true causes of dysfunction rather than just throwing the bums out every election cycle.

What made the experience of listening to Reamde the most enjoyable?
Stephenson has done it again; an exciting story, with a very interesting basis.
What about Malcolm Hillgartner’s performance did you like?
Mr. Hillgartner's performance, and putting accents to different characters made the entire story extremely pleasurable. One of the best performances I've ever listened to.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
A very long book, but couldn't wait to get to the next listening session.
