Historia
When Alice Verianna went to sleep, she was just another teen from the Denver suburbs. She definitely didn't expect to be transported to a magical alternate dimension, inhabited by monsters and presided over by a mysterious System. Here, people resemble RPG characters and everyone has access to their own status screens. Grappling with the mechanics of the elusive System isn't the only challenge Alice faces. It seems an underground organization known as the Society of Starry Eyes has taken a particular interest in other dimensions.

narrator vs a situation she can't internalize
Revisado: 09-24-24
so the narrator reads this in a way that I would expect someone who hasn't even cracked the book to read. Just slamming through it without thought of how she sounds.
the world is interesting and I love the take on isekia. I have a very hard time believing this is a teenager until her angst pops out. BTW author the way you portray exasperated and aggrieved teenager is on point. well done! it made my parenting teeth grind. I love how she logics her way through the survival.
but I still can't get past the narrator. so ima check this out on kindle

Historia
Jake is working at the neighborhood market under his apartment when the world ends. He expected nuclear war, a computer virus, or even climate change burning everyone to a crisp to bring about the downfall of civilization. But cruel and arbitrary gods from another world? Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.

new concepts meet old concepts
Revisado: 07-02-24
so to start the story is overall interesting. the writer really captured the emotions and thought processes that happen when someone is going through trauma, recovery and depression. but like all art it's not quite perfect. it kind of reminds me of how artists draw cartoons. the images are there and you can tell what they are but I'm not sure how I feel about how he characterized them. I'm going to give the next one a try cause I feel like some of the transitions between story scenes were rushed. this all may be just because I can't wrap my sensibilities around the character, but that's a me problem not a story problem. I love the voice actor, great works as always.

Historia
When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all. Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

isekia with a life skill done right
Revisado: 06-23-24
sometimes these are just bad between a bad voice actor and lazy writing its just disappointing. this is not that. great writing that includes some tropes with a unique twist makes this story stand out. add to it a brand new magic system, and I'm hooked. I love this voice actor, that's all there is to say, it's good and you should check it out. can't wait for the next one

the author is detailed and the narrorator is bored
Revisado: 06-12-24
I would like to read this book. yeah it reads like every isekai Manga light novel comic ever written but there is a reason those kinds of stories are popular. it's like complaining romance novels are all the same. the fun is in the details. I think the author has potential. the voice actor? no I didn't know that aggressively American accent was a thing until I heard this guy. he sounds so tepid and uninterested. like he is trying to fake being interested but you can hear how bored he is. to kindle for this one!

the story is fantastic
Revisado: 09-07-23
rant please take my input as the words of someone who loves audiobooks and is kind of picky about how they sound.
the narrator is garbage. after so many books that have narrators who have skill in doing accents, this guy's attempted accents are bad. the french doesnt sound french, at least he might be bulgarian, maybe. the cat is ok as well. the status screen is a very bland roboticly chipper voice, not bad. the monsters that sound like they are from a cartoon version of boston? nah. the female voice is so grating that i am switching to written version to support the author. how can you do one happy chipper female voice that isnt supposed to be chipper or maybe it is i cant tell. and one absolutely supposed to be a little girl and make it sound demented?
his inflection and emphysis is on all the wrong words. read the story first then act it out!
rant over. suggest that the narrator read the story and do this over again. it could be awesome.

Historia
Life’s tough when you’re trapped in an eight-year-old body on another world. His name is Eight. Not really, but that’s what the System decided after a slip of the tongue. One moment, he was stepping out the office door on the way home, and the next waking up on a hillside below a town wall. Oh, and the gate guard drove him off, because he thought Eight was a monster. What’s a boy to do in a world full of magic and so many, many hungry creatures searching for their next meal? Well, there’s an old man inside that body, and he'll use everything he’s learned to survive.

it was so good at first. there was real struggle. but the ending kinda left me a bit dissapointed. maybe i need to go back and relisten to it. i love the premise of the story and so far the execution is good. i am hoping for a recovery in the next book.

i loved the first book. this second book gave me pause and made go from laughing to rage in 7 words. fan freaking tastic story telling. phenomenal performance!
note story telling doesnt always mean the mc is someone you have to agree with all the time. i wanna hug this kid and box his antenna. i guess thats normal kind of love for teenagers.

Historia
In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system. It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass and deal with dragons and the unknown for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

dodgy audio recording and a story not for me
Revisado: 01-11-23
first, the narrator has potential to be good. the audio quality of his recording is quiet loud quiet loud. which makes his acting range go from interesting and possibly an asset to annoying. second the story could be interesting. it is a simple uncomplicated story if you have seen any anime recently. It is easy to follow and I would consider this to be a good YA story. But it is written for adults. so I am left questioning my tastes in literature and the author's and editor's choice to have a MC who swears as much as I do in a story that would be super popular among an audience of teenagers. While I might swear a lot, I would not allow my kid to pick a story that the main character swears as much as I do.
bought it, made it a third of the way through, returned it. Sorry author keep trying, I like the idea but the execution doesn't do it justice.
