hate the cliff hanger.

struggle to finish. the new narrator was extremely hard to adjust too. some of her voice changes just didn't work. That being said I still need a finish to the series. This one just felt like a filler. All in all necessary to read for a few key things that develop the overall story. the rest just kind of drags on.

Noticing Schinhofen is more and more with his series. So focusing on the plural relationships that it just makes the story drag on.

This story has just gotten better and better with each book in the series. As always I love Jessica. Jack has only gotten better with the series as well.

Daniel Schinhofen in decline.

I used too love every Schinhofen book I read. This marks the Third book that I've struggled to finish recently of his. I struggled with the new narrator. The dungeon parts of the story were okay. I think the only thing that kept me going was the reunion with dark hand. Which unfortunately was very anticlimactic. All in all I don't see myself purchasing anymore books in this series.

Series filler.

I'm a huge fan of Daniel Schinhofen. Andrea Parsneau was as as always excellent. So I say with disappointment. I felt like this book was a series filler. Most of it was spent going into the relationships of the characters and not developing the story. Don't get me wrong some of the Empire's Gambit and a few of the Sparring matches were interesting. I do like the characters, I want to see them develop attachments with each other. It's just that when most of the book is spent doing this.. well there's only so much justifying and excepting of the complexities of a polygamist relationship that you can handle in a book. It becomes hard to follow and you start to lose interest. However I will say that I see the next book making up for this one. This makes it all the more frustrating because of where the book ended. I really love this series. And I really love the author. I have all of his books that have been released on audible. And I've enjoyed everyone. So when he releases the next book in the series I will get it. With the understanding that sometimes you do need serious fillers. I really hope audible releases the next book soon. keep up the great work 👍

Bad cliff hanger at the end. very entertaining story. I didn't want it to end. especially knowing that audible has not released book 4 yet 😤.
