One of the best memoirs I’ve ever read. This is more than a story about Covid policy. It is a portrait of a hardworking mom who saw injustice, found her voice, and didn’t compromise her principles, despite a high cost.

Phenomenal, thoughtful, clarifying

This book is a must read: carefully researched and based on hundreds of interviews, the author makes a compelling case that teenage girls in the West are swept up in a contagion. The voice actress has a great vocal quality and imbues her performance with warmth. You can really feel how much the author cares for all the people who she interviewed and for the teenage girls swept up in gender ideology. I found myself wondering if I would have been one of these girls rejecting being a woman and embracing a more fluid identity. As a Gen X woman, I had no idea that rigid stereotypes of what makes a woman a woman had gained prominence again in our culture—standards that fit few girls, if any. I am grateful for the author’s careful work.

You think you've got some bad date stories? My last date ended with me almost being sacrificed to a Hawaiian war god. Then I found out that all the gods are real. Only they aren't really gods, they're Atlanteans. Yep, that Atlantis.They screwed up their perfect island (and sank it) then had the nerve to move in on our territory. As if that wasn't bad enough, they told us normal humans that they were gods. And we believed them.

This is an incredible book, with an amazing blend of humor, adventure, myth and lore, and love. I would have missed all of it if I’d given up on the narrator. I’m guessing she’s a native Hawaiian, perfect to voice the strong, funny heroine, whose pop culture references made me laugh out loud. I can’t wait for book 2.

I’ve been searching for a new series and new world to lose myself in. I can’t believe it took so long to find this amazing book. Incredible world building, rich and unique characters, exquisite voice performance, beautiful love story. I took a chance and used a credit to buy this when I found a later book through the magic section in romance. I’m so glad I did. Enough gushing; I need to buy the next book!
