Historia
News of the sudden death of his childhood friend compels Jono Riley, an aging bartender and part-time actor, to return for a few days to the place where he grew up, the working-class neighborhoods of East Providence, Rhode Island. Author McLarty weaves the story of Jono's return with that of his coming-of-age in the early 1960s, including the story of some mysterious shootings.

Top notch narration and content
Revisado: 03-14-10
Ron McLarty has the best of both worlds. Having already listened to Memories of Running after having spotted it in Stephen King review, and Art in America -both also read by the author- Traveler fell right in between in content with the same top-notch narrating McLarty never needs worry about future narrators. If you have listened to Memories of Running already then fear-not you will definitely enjoy this one. If you have not, then you are in for not only one treat, but two as you will be so entertained, Mr. McLarty's Memories of Running will probably be your next buy, and well worth it!

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: You may have thought the movie was scary, but this is pure Stephen King as it was meant to be experience – performed frighteningly well by Campbell Scott. First published in 1977, The Shining quickly became a benchmark in the literary career of Stephen King. This tale of a troubled man hired to care for a remote mountain resort over the winter, his loyal wife, and their uniquely gifted son slowly but steadily unfolds as secrets from the Overlook Hotel's past are revealed.

Great content, horrible narrator
Revisado: 03-14-10
As an avid King reader, having read everything he's published and many of the hard-to-finds, I would have to advise you to pass on this one. The content is tremendous but you would never know from the monotone reading given by Scott. How anyone could approve this version for release is beyond me. Save your money and invest in a Ron McLarty written and read by Ron such as the audiobook only King promoted Memories of Running.

Historia
In late 2003, in his column in Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King called The Memory of Running "the best novel you won't read this year." This glowing endorsement of the audiobook resulted in Ron McLarty receiving a $2 million two-book deal from Viking Penguin. Also, Warner Brothers has shelled out big bucks for the movie rights to The Memory of Running, for which McLarty will write the script.

On The Road
Revisado: 07-13-06
The Memory of Running is a wonderful audio book and Ron Mclarty does a masterful job bringing it to life...and he should know, he wrote it.
Told in a stream of conscienceness, The Memory of Running brings back memories of Kerouacs "On the Road" but in an "everyday man" style anyone can relate to at some point.
This book was a definite pleasure to drive and listen to.
