Historia
Bringing the magic and suspense of the All Souls Trilogy to a deeply satisfying conclusion, this highly anticipated finale went straight to number one on the New York Times best seller list. In The Book of Life, Diana and Matthew time-travel back from Elizabethan London to make a dramatic return to the present - facing new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home, Sept-Tours, they reunite with the beloved cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception.

Classic fairytale remade into a lesbian romanc
Revisado: 01-28-22
Lise and her family have fallen into poverty after the death of her father. They are forced to move from the King’s Huntsman house and live in the forest, raising cows and making cheese. As the oldest of four daughters, Lise’s mother desperately wants to marry her off to the son of the King’s new huntsman. Lise grew up shadowing her father and would rather wear men’s clothes, hunt, and do traditional men’s work. She doesn’t want to marry a man, let alone one that she has considered a brother since childhood, all the while she is secretly pining after a woman in the village.
Sightings of ghosts, monsters and other objects of the villagers’ fears in the woods have put everyone on edge. Lise encounters the beautiful Senna, traveling through the same forest from her family’s farm to town to sell cheese.
Senna has been cursed to live alone in a house no one can see but her. Anyone she encounters triggers a painful metamorphosis into the object of each person’s fears, except for Lise. Hated and hunted, Senna has remained hidden and alone.
The book is a classic fairytale remade into a lesbian romance. By chance, two women find each other. Will their love change their fates?
What I liked:
I like the magical world of fairytales made over ‘lesbian style’ and wished I had these stories to read while growing up.
What some folks may not like:
The plot was straightforward and followed the pattern of traditional fairytales.
Summary:
I really enjoyed the story. It was more suspenseful than I would have imagined. Like Werlinger’s other books, there is a twist or two in the story to keep you on your toes. The narrator, Justine Eyre, did an excellent job. Her voice made the fairytale come to life.
Once upon a time, there was an author who wrote a fantastic lesbian fairytale. Everyone who listened to it lived happily ever after. The End.

Revisado: 01-17-22
The short story is by an author I have not read or listened to before. The “A Sea and Stars” prequel was well written and the narrator was pleasant. She very quickly built an intricate undersea merperson world. I would definitely listen to more of the authors books.

The universe is definitely trying to punish Jennifer Andrews. Her new colleague, Ellaine Baxter, is not only an annoying, ambitious hard-ass, she's the woman who broke Jennifer's best friend's heart. Now, for added torture, they have to drive to a teambuilding conference together. On their three-hour journey, things go from tense to catastrophic after an unscheduled stop in New Zealand's wildly beautiful Kaimanawa Forest.

Excellent Adventure!
Revisado: 10-12-21
“Foxfire in the Snow” by J.S. Fields:
Narrator: Lynn Norris
Foxfire in the Snow takes place in a fantasy realm of Sorpsi. It’s a land full of magic and guilds. Sorin is the heir of a master woodcutter. Sorin doesn’t want to become a woodcutter and struggles to find their way in the world. They would prefer to become an alchemist. Sorin travels to the capital city in hopes of finding an apprenticeship with the Alchemist Guild. Unfortunately, Sorin discovers the queen is missing, and all the guilds are empty.
Princess Magda and Sorin used to be best friends. Magda informs Sorin that her mother, the queen, and Sorin’s mother have disappeared. Magda is forced to take her mother’s place and attend the treaty talks, which will decide the borders of the Sorpsi. The deciding factor in determining boundaries is guilds. Those with guilds are considered a real country. With the guild masters missing, Sorpsi may cease to exist.
Magda forces Sorin to travel with her to the treaty talks and to help search for the Queen and Sorin’s mother along the way.
What I liked:
Like with Ardulum series, the author is a master world builder, and Foxfire in the Snow is another fine example. Sorin has developed themselves as an alchemist, but their powers come in the form of a multi-pouched bandolier filled with powders. If used correctly, the powders can do things such as turn things into crystal or heal a person’s wound.
The world is full of magic and rogue amulets which are buried throughout the kingdom. They are like bombs from a past world war that are found by accident and can be triggered.
The sexual tension between Sorin and Princess Magda. Poor Sorin is still trying to figure out their place in the world, and Magda flusters Sorin to no end.
What some folks may not like:
This is a Y.A. book, so the budding romance is a very slow burn with no sex. This is more of a coming-of-age book about Sorin.
The book will need a sequel and ends with a cliffhanger, requiring at least one more, if not two, to finish the story.
Few events seemed a little off on the story timeline. As we listened to it rather than read it, I couldn’t really go back and check like I do with print.
Summary:
My daughter (an adult) and I listened to the audiobook on our way to and from vacation. We were both sad when it ended and wanted to listen to the next installment, which isn’t yet written. Foxfire is an enjoyable story that can be enjoyed with your teen or, in my case, my straight adult daughter.
My daughter’s feedback on the story: “I thought the book was well written. I liked the gender-neutral term using “their” and Sorin’s relationship with Magda. Super cute and innocent. The story kept me interested and thoroughly entertained.”
Narrator: Lynn Norris does a fantastic narration job. My daughter and I really liked the distinct voices she used for different characters. She also narrated the Ardulum Series.

Grab a Faygo pop and be ready to be smitten with a story from the Mitten
Revisado: 03-17-21
Moving Violations by McGee Mathews
(Ladies of the Diamond Lake Book 1)
(Released on Audible on 2-4-21)
Amy Gilbert is immature and her own worst enemy at times. She also doesn't have much of a filter and has a habit of making bad decisions. Yet, her heart is in the right place. Between working as a mechanic at her family's garage and playing softball and drinking with friends, what could go wrong?
Interim police chief Molly Gorman hasn't been in town very long. After being shot in the line of duty, she accepts the slower-paced and safer job in Diamond Lake. She has survived the tough streets of Detroit, but can she survive mouthy Amy Gilbert?
Moving Violations is set in Michigan at Diamond Lake. I believe the era is set in the mid-1980s due to the music and cassette tapes.
At times, I cringed at Amy's behavior. She has just edged out of her twenties but still acts very immature. Amy is still overcoming a recent breakup with her girlfriend and using it as an excuse to wallow in self-pity and to get drunk. As with many lesbian communities, everyone knows each other, and you can't go anywhere without running into your ex.
Molly is no-nonsense and has her headset on straight. Diamond Lake is not the quiet town she remembers from when she visited her grandparents as a child. The previous police chief disappeared without a trace, and the city has one of the highest rates of burglaries in the area. Then she runs into a drunk and obnoxious Amy driving her motorcycle on the softball fields. Willing to help out Amy and give her a chance, Amy blows it, and Molly is forced to haul her off to jail. Neither Molly nor Amy can stop thinking about each other. The unlikely pair cross paths intertwined with the mystery of the missing police chief and the rash of home robberies.
Molly and Amy seemed like an unlikely couple as their lives and perspectives are so far apart, but the book gives Amy a vehicle to mature and become a better person. She even realizes that she drinks too much. Molly has some of her own personal baggage, which revolves around issues at her new job. Add in her attraction to Amy, and her safer and simplified life becomes a whole lot more complicated.
I enjoyed listening to this audiobook and would recommend it to others. The mystery and suspense built until the book's ending, and I couldn't predict where it was going. At one point, I thought one of the characters wasn't going to survive.
I enjoyed the narration by Heidi Bindhammer. I thought she did an excellent job with the Michigander accents. So grab yourself a Faygo pop, relax, and get ready to be smitten with the Mitten and this book.
"Exceeding Expectations" (Ladies of the Diamond Lake Book 2) was released on Audible on 2-13-21.
"Delivering Generations" (Ladies of the Diamond Lake Book 3) was just released on Amazon 3-8-21 and may be ready for release on audio in May.

I have all that money can buy. Power, sexy women, and toys. All kinds of toys. Everything is perfect...or, at least, it is until the exclusive Lesbian Billionaires Club I belong to gives me an ultimatum - stop the revolving door of women or leave the group. Insisting I settle down is crossing the line, and I want none of it. At least, until she comes into my life. Suddenly, I have someone I crave, a woman I can’t stop thinking about, that I must have for my own. I won’t take no for an answer.

Revisado: 03-29-20
Had I not read the author’s other books, I would have never picked this one up. First, the premise and the cover of the book did not appeal to me. With that said, I am very glad that I gave the book a go as I enjoyed it very much. I also plan on listening to the second book in the series. I thought the narrator was excellent and would listen to her again.
