Historia
When the call came it seemed like the answer to my prayers. My career as a voice actor had been over for months and me and my little girl Scarlet were living back at my mum’s place. I felt like a failure professionally—and with Scarlet having problems at school, as a parent as well. So, when I was asked to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts I jumped at the chance, even if it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex, Hugo, for a few weeks. Hugo, with his perfect new home and his perfect new girlfriend Saskia. But this isn’t a dream come true. It’s a nightmare.

Didn't Guess It!
Revisado: 06-16-24
I adore K.L. Slater, and thoroughly enjoy her books and the narrators selected in general. Usually, I can guess what's coming by the end. I'll say with this one, I had the right idea, but I wasn't dead on, so it was a lovely surprise to be surprised!

ALMOST Fooled
Revisado: 02-06-24
Thoroughly enjoyed this narration- though I listen sped up (1.35x). I initially chose to listen because I truly enjoy Harlan Coben and saw this was on Netflix as well- so I OBVIOUSLY had to listen prior to watching. I'm not sure what is in store for me with the Netflix series, but I definitely enjoyed the hack out of the book. There we definitely enough twist and turns to keep me binge-listening, but I definitely caught on before the big reveal. Still Lan excellent listen!

Sweet, slightly mysterious
Revisado: 02-06-24
Dovetail kept me reading/listening but I wouldn't say it was SO good. Sweet, yes. A bit of mystery, sure, but SO good- no. It was a sweet little read to decompress in between intense thrillers though!

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

This one kept me changing my opinion in what I thought was happening. A little too much spice for me, but I really enjoyed the story overall and that it kept me wondering what was going on.

I close the binder I’ve been writing in, and walk into the living room. As I stare out of the window at your house next door, I think about all the things I stand to lose if someone comes for me. My handsome, loving husband, who has no idea what I’ve done. My family, who have supported me no matter what. This beautiful home near the ocean, where I thought I would be safe.

I think the only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because I saw much of it coming. I enjoyed every moment of it, but it was fairly easy for me to "call it" with certain twists early on. The narration was very well done and once I sped it up, it was perfect for me- it didn't cause me to drift or to have a hard time staying engaged at all. Truly a great read for Mystery, Thriller, Suspense lovers- just don't think it's like a Christie and you won't be able to figure out what's happening.

First 5 Star for the Year
Revisado: 01-12-24
Truly enjoyed every moment of this book. As far as thriller/suspense goes, I was not let down- the mystery kept me engaged and wanting to just keep reading/listening. I found the narration to be fantastic- I do listen at a faster speed, but I didn't "zone out" once. The only disappointment of the book, for me, was that it was over. I would 100 percent read this author again and I am looking forward to more from her!

Great Principles
Revisado: 01-03-24
Definitely a great 1st read for the year. Enjoyed the narration, it was very easy to listen to and a quick listen as well. There was a lot of great information and story snippets packed in, as well as some excellent "checklist" or action bullets and questions to tackle. If you DO have an entrepreneurial heart, spirit or drive, this would likely be 5 stars in all categories. She does say in the very beginning, that this book is for people who do, so if you do not- probably more like a 3 star rating in the overall and story categories, but still a GREAT read/listen and worth the time!

Loved it. There aren't many books I'm sad when I finish because I just don't want them to end, but this was one of them that left me that way. It was definitely tied up well at the end, but I just didn't want it to end. Thoroughly enjoyed the narration and the story. Very excited to read more by Annette Chávez Macias.

As usual, Frankie Corzo and Rachel Jacobs narration was excellent. Chanel Cleeton's Cuba series is one of my favorite to date. This one didn't disappoint- it was a quick listen and I just wanted to find out how it was all going to come together at the end. Truly enjoyed it.

Real
Revisado: 04-21-23
I loved the way there was so much realness to the book. So many people have stories of "what if" so to get to listen/read this one play out was equally heartbreaking and heartwarming. Morgan and Clara's relationship was so true to reality that it hit me on a personal level. I too was a young mom, and now have 4 kids- 2 of which are grown now. Colleen Hoover's story telling about parent's fears and parenting, getting it wrong at times even, told from both sides was incredible. I loved every word of this book. The narration was just alright- the voices took a little bit of getting used to, but I DID get used to them, and enjoyed the narration once I did.
